VW Golf - electric window behaviour?

I recently bought a 2006 reg Golf, but freshers kindly decided it would be fun to trash it so it's just had £2300 of body work repair done :-S

Anyway, I got it back finally yesterday, but when using the electric windows today I got a little confused - either I'm imagining they had this feature or I'm thinking of one of the cars I borrowed whilst it was in the garage...

Do Golfs have this feature where you pull the electric window switch all the way up, and instead of having to hold it there manually, it automatically winds itself back up to the top? Because I thought it did but since getting it back I have to manually hold it...

I know it's nothing big, but just wondering if I need to take it back in to them if they've broken it?

Thanks for any info!

If the battery has been disconnected from the car you need to run all the windows through a full up and down cycle several times before the auto window function comes back.

Its the same with most cars - they need "calibrating" so they know where the top and bottom are. Generally the procedure is just to wind them up and down a few times, but with some cars (like mine) you need to wind it up and hold the button down for 10 seconds

On merc's you "train" the windows and sunroofs etc by winding them to each extreme and then holding the buttons down for 5 seconds at the limit.

Annoyingly you have to do this for every single window control in the whole car.

Exactly the same here - Merc obviously got the idea from Ford ;)

Ahh thanks for the replies! They'd flattened the battery when I picked it up so had to get it jump started and then give the battery a quick recharge.

Running it through the up/down cycle a few times has indeed fixed it, guess I wasn't patient enough!
