I'm about to buy a used but near mint condition Speedmaster. It's the std 3570.50 and in good condition (no large marks and a new clasp), boxed with no papers (last owner lost them) so I can't tell how old it is, at a guess it's about 5 years old.

What sort of price should I be looking to pay?

Thanks watch buffs!

You get a lot of idiots in GD unfortunately.

They're not just in GD, but thanks anyway

Where are you buying it from?

It's a shame isn't it! Maybe be he should take his 2p and flick it up with his thumb, he seems to be the sort of bloke that would be good at tossing.

I'm getting it from www.tz-uk.com, if you're a member and you have more than 25 posts I can send you the link.

Thanks

Well for a brand new one with AD discount, I'd expect to be paying around £1700-1750.

For a 5 year old one with no papers, I'd say around £1000.

For a couple of year old one fully boxed with all warranty cards etc, probably around £1200-£1300.

Actually, looking at the one on TZ-UK, it seems a good example, albeit without papers. I'd be wanting to pay no more than about £1050 though.

I'm paying £1075 inc postage. Good?

Looks interesting, I'm not a member think I may join though, I'm on the lookout for a bargain.

Yeah thats a spot on price. As I said above, that one looks in lovely condition and comes complete, apart from the warranty cards.

I'd have to ask though, how exactly did the cards get "lost" by the original owner? I'm not saying that its a fake, or anything dodgy about it - as far as I can see its a reliable seller, but it just seems a bit odd, as they would surely remain in the box with the rest of the manuals etc?

I'm not 100% sure where the papers went as it was the owner before the current one that lost them. It looks in good condition with a new clasp so I'm happy. Should be able to get a good few years wear out of it with loosing any money!

Yep I'd agree. You'll probably make money on it if anything - get it bought!

I just PM'd someone in the know and he said from the boxed and a few other things he can tell it's from between 2005-8, I'm happy with that. As soon as I get it I'll email Omega the serial number and get them to let me know when it was made.

Over the moon ;)

How about getting the seller to do that now and forwarding you the reply?
