Which internet provider?

Currently with o2 and realised I've been paying £15 a month when infact the package I am on dropped to £10 a month back in January! :mad:

My own fault really for not keeping an eye out on the packages they offer, but added to the fact I have been having recent problems with o2 broadband is there a better provider out there?

I don't download that much anymore so I only require the internet really for browsing and online gaming. I gave o2 a right earful before which certainly made me feel better

and I can't believe how cheeky they are in requesting the router back if I cancel with all the original cables/filter etc otherwise they said I will incur a £48 charge. :eek:

I am thinking about going to Sky BB simply because I have just ordered Sky HD and they can probably offer me something half decent. Anyone have any advice?

Depending on the service o2/Be are one of the best. What package are you on exactly?

That's normal, the equipment is their property.

You've dug yourself a hole. If you'd asked nicely o2 would almost certainly have dropped your bill down rather than loose a customer, giving the a "right earful" probably hasn't helped. How can you claim scandal if you yourself haven't read (or forgotten) the T&C when you signed up, it's clearly labled that you have to return it but in fairness, then send a prepared bag to you.

O2/BE llu is really the best there is atm, no service is perfect, but sky comes a close second. Just make sure and read the T&C...

Upto 20meg, the name of the actual package changed, it use to cost £15 but dropped to just under £10 back in January, thats for o2 mobile customers btw.

If you get a mobile phone contract, once the contract expires the phone is yours. If you have a sky contract, once the contract expires the sky box is yours. That's why I expected the same in this instance, mistakingly. I certainly wouldn't say it's the 'norm' but they have every right to ask for it back ofcourse.

They can still drop my bill down, I don't need to ask them nicely, that's the current package they have on offer. :confused:

You don't need to ask nicely, but generally you'll get further if you do. Doesn't mean be a pushover, be polite but firm and you'll find people are more willing help

Ah right thanks. Well this wasn't suppose to be your average 'recommend me an ISP' thread, more me having a go at o2 for charging me £5 above what I could have been paying for the best part of 9 months (my fault for not checking) aswel as the current problems I've been having (random disconnects). Oh yeah and the fact they are asking for all the equipment back now that the contract is over which apparently is normal(?) I think it's the first time I've come across that hence why I was abit shocked by it. I'll be honest, I'm not one to sit and read all the T&C's so theres a lesson for me in there.

Definately, but I think Azuse05 was trying to imply that I have in some way been put at a disadvantage because they 'could have' put the price down. It's not really a matter of 'could have' though is it.

Most ISPs, or indeed most companies, won't chase after you to offer you reductions in price. There's no reason they couldn't offer you some kind of retention deal but ultimately it's up to you to make sure you're not paying more than you should be.

Virgin Media will usually take the modem off you (if they can be bothered) as well. You're hardly paying for the hardware so it's not entirely unreasonable that you have to return it if you leave - they even (used to) give you a postage paid envelope.

I'm not trying to be some kind of Nazi here, but the number of virtually identical "i'd lik a noo ISP kthx lol ftw bbq" were getting stupid. I shouldn't have had to post a sticky and lock threads for what should be some basic common sense.
