Premier League footballer Marlon King has been jailed for 18 months for sexually assaulting a woman in a bar.

The Wigan Athletic striker was repeatedly "cold-shouldered" by the 20-year-old student in London last December, Southwark Crown Court heard.

He groped her and then punched her, leaving her with a broken nose.

Proper order. Too many 'flash Harrys' in the game thinking they can get away with anything just because they're a tad famous.
 
I'm glad.

A large number of footballers seem to think that they can do what they want, have who they want and that they are above the law. All because they are famous and have money!
 
Good riddance. Hopefully this will give his ego a good kicking and he'll come out of prison an improved person. Then again may be im just being naive :p

Serves him right. You don't act like a ****** on a night out. Not just footballers these days that are moronic (maybe I'm just slowly turning into an old fart).
 
Whelan, who only learned on Tuesday that King was on trial at Southwark Crown Court, must follow Premier League rules and pay the player's wages for 14 days before terminating his contract.

Not bad, he's on £38k/week so that's another £76,000 he'll be trousering over the next fortnight. Wish I earned that much in 18 months.

King was celebrating two occasions - his wife's latest pregnancy and the scoring of a winning goal - with a night out in the West End.

By my reckoning that means his latest kid must be just a couple of months old, might just get to learn the word "daddy" by the time they are 2.

he really deserves what he gets I guess, celebrating his wife getting pregnant by coping a feel and trying to sleep with a bird then getting shirty and punching her.


Good on Wigan for actually firing a criminal who simply doesn't deserve to be paid or live a cushy life. Honestly how on earth Barton didn't get fired, nor more importantly serve more time for a second equally sickening attack on Dabo I don't know.

Then again Barton is someone who probably negotiated for a couple grand less a week to not have a professional behaviour clause in his contract, "just in case" , with his background :p

Totally deserved - hope the lady is able to sue him for a lot for pain and anguish etc (although Im sure she just wants to forget about it, its a lot easier saying "I just want to forget about it" than actually doing the forgetting)

to be honest that £76,000 should be paid to an "abuse" charity rather than going in his pocket (after all he hasnt even earnt it), what a right little scrote MK is
