New Guitar

Nice, but shop around. You'll want to play it first anyway, but you'll also get good quality cheaper than that.

Don't impulse buy, the guitar will choose you....

Oops, went all hippy there....

hooFlungDung and SuperCrofty: what's with all the double and triple ( ) posting? You can hit the edit button to add more information to your post.

You like Hendrix, that's cool :) Going for a guitar with single coils (like a strat) is a very sensible idea considering you already have a Les Paul, and Tokai LPs are supposed to be decent. But a left handed guitar strung righty really isn't a good idea if you want it to be an instrument with much playability, upper fret access would SUCK, Hendrix never really went higher than around the 15th fret but you don't want to cripple a guitar like that straight off the bat.

Mexican/Japanese fenders, generally US made: most expensive, best woods/electrics, with Mexican and Japanese 2nd and 3rd behind. However, that doesn't mean there aren't -fantastic- Mexican and Japanese strats out there.

I would absolutely most definitely super mega recommend you go to a guitar shop (or ten) and play -as many- guitars as you can. Some strats have different neck profiles as you mentioned, I'm no expert on Fenders so can't guide you on which would be most suitable - it sounds like you already have an idea anyway and once again the only way to know for sure is to try as many as possible.

If you want a strat then you have picked the easiest guitar to find examples of to play :) So get out there and try some guitars.

You've already got something with 'buckers, so go for single coil this time.

Grab yourself a good Mexican Strat or Tele (play them first - there are some cracking mexican fenders to be had for the money)

+1 on this. Single coils would be a nice change.

Not a fan of Strats, but got myself a really nice MIM Tele not long ago. :)

I'd definitely recommend trying some out in a shop though instead of ordering off the net.

Tokais are amazig in my opinion waaayyy better than epiphones. Affordable too myne cost £250 and epiphones cost £350 or above so i rest my case with tokais.

Teles have a thicker body than Strats, that combined with the bridge design and body wood (often ash) contributes to a tone with a snappy, high end, that's why they're often used for country. It all depends what sounds you're after, with a Strat and a Les Paul you'd have everything you could wish for covered tonally.

Edit: SuperCrofty, you are double posting, posting several messages in a row, it clutters up the thread and bumps your thread to the top all the time, if you're not careful a mod will come into the thread and start deleting your posts, press the 'edit' button at the bottom right if you want to add more information.

Ok so teles are out of the question for me then lol. Country sux balls! Ok sorry :(. I am newto OCuK you see

:/

If you read into my post you'll hopefully see that the tone the guitar makes should be more important to you than the genre of music usually associated with it. Who cares if it's used for country, if you were interested in having a guitar that delivered that sort of tone then it would be stupid to go for something different, if you're not bothered about the tone, then fair enough, a lot of artists in other genres use teles though to great effect, especially a lot of indie bands.

Dont listen to indie ( or very little ) but still i just like the shape of strats too i mean you wouldnt want to get a guitar you absolutely hate ( in terms of looks )

Tele's sound amazing.

Really gritty and harsh compared to the smooth 'quack' of the Strat. They're like the Strat's dirtier sister!

I love them and i'd have both if I could afford it.
