Best Netbook/Notebook for Flash and/or Photoshop Use.

Smallest screen i'de want to use Photoshop on is 13", and I still can't stand it on that. Unless you are talking the most infrequent and casual of occaisions?

Best 13" I could find was the Macbook Pro. Really does feel miles ahead of everything else I tried (Just in general, the finish, picking it up, opening the screen, all the little things!) and enough grunt to run CS4 and Capture1, even with tethered 30+mp medium format files.

I'm not the most clued up on Netbooks so i'l let someone else cover that :) I believe mrk on here runs photoshop on his HP 311c so i'm sure he can give you an insight into its performance.

I've just installed Photoshop CS4 on my little Acer Aspire One, which has been pimped out with 1.5gb of RAM.

Even then, the adobe installer said I should have 2gb and 1024x768 in order to use it properly, but the program still runs.

I'd make sure the screen is at least 720 pixels high, I think the ideal machine would be a 13" MBP with 4gb of RAM... I've used a friends MBP and it's a lot faster than my Netbook with larger files...
 
I personally wouldn't use a netbook for major editing of Photoshop files, small editing & adjusting is OK, the rest just becomes a pain really. My 17" lappy I find hard to use properly in Photoshop :) It's best left to the 20-30" brigade ;)
 
If you're using PS and you want something nice and portable too then I'll stick my neck on the chopping block and recommend a shiny new MacBook. They're great machines but hardware wise are steeply priced in comparison to PC's. But then, you don't just buy a Mac for the hardware.
 
I would saya netbook is a bad plan for photoshop. Get yourself a laptop with a decent processor and 4gb ram.

Wouldnt reccomend a macbook as you can get a lot more power for the price elsewhere which photoshop needs.
 
Do you have a size requirement? I personally don't like laptops over 13" as I feel they start the loose the portability and thus the point, but if you're happy with a 15/17 it opens up a world of options. I only assume you're looking at the smaller end of the scale as you mentioned netbooks.
 
Thanks everyone for commenting, basically I have a PC to do the major things in photoshop/flash so I am not looking for a very high priced laptop such as a macbook, I said netbook as it is very portable which is good for me as I commute to uni an can do some slight editing/work on my way to uni or in a library, I wouldnt want to spend more than 400, most netbooks are less than this anyway.
 
The HP 311c is a better option than the N510. It's also cheaper with 3GB ram and wireless N upgrade and arguably will have a longer lifespan as the keys/surface won't be as worn after a year's solid usage due to them being glossy instead of matte.
 
I ran Photoshop on the NC10 - same CPU, lower res screen and will be running it on the 311c too.

Do you think there would be any benefit in running an older version of PS on a low-spec machine? I've found CS2 seems to be a fair bit faster than CS4 for most basic things...
 
Maybe/Maybe not, I didn't have an issue running CS4 on the NC10 -performance wise but I did have win7 on there and 2gb ram.

The only problem was the 1024x600 resolution which is now sorted on the 311c and add to that dx10 via hacked ION drivers making it a bonus :P
 
Is it better to just get a proper C2D laptop for about the same price? Im just worried about portability an Battery life.
