Omega Speedmaster Used Prices

Will Omega issue you with new papers?

I'd be wary buying any watch without box and papers, the price would have to reflect this IMO.

Can you post the link to the ad?

Do not buy one with no papers, there are plenty more about

Generally people do not "lose" papers as they leave them in the watch box

Well for a brand new one with AD discount, I'd expect to be paying around £1700-1750.

For a 5 year old one with no papers, I'd say around £1000.

For a couple of year old one fully boxed with all warranty cards etc, probably around £1200-£1300.

Yes £1000 tops with no papers if you absolutely must

for a start it could be fake

it could be stolen

it could have outstanding import taxes to pay

you will have problems reselling it

I'm not syaing it is always a no go but you need some serious money off and be 100% of its history

does it still have the serial number on it ?

Yep, it's still got the serial number on it. Could most of the about be the case even if it did have the papers?

It's not fake (well it's from a trusted seller on a very good forum), wouldn't the papers be easier to fake than a watch anyway?

The Omega "papers" are actually a credit card so would be hard to fake

If you trust the seler then that is a start

It has serial number so prob ok there

This leaves the tax situation, if it started life as an EU watch then no problem but without papers how can you tell that

If not at any point you pass through a UK customs post ( airport etc ) you could get stung for the import taxes, happened to a mate recently

The above is not relevant if it was/has any of following

Original EU papers or receipt
Documentation showing tax has been paid
or a UK VAT receipt forom seller

the other issue is resale, it is prob worth around £250 less wthout papers

The whole import tax thing would be a bit rubbish if that happened! I can check all the details through Omega if I email them the serial number. Would there be any incentive (other what is stated about) for someone to "lose" the papers?

who knows ?

sometimes if a watch is purchased fro grey market then supplying dealer will withold paperwork so it is harder to tace back to them

re the import taxes, trust me it does happen

I do trust you, very much so. I'm supprised they have access to a database of watch id's to hand though. They are on top of things. I wouldn't have thought it was worth thier while.

they check with the manufacturers, also it is for you to prove they have been paid and not for them to prove they haven't

the taxes amount to about 25% of original price so it is worth their time
