I was just wondering, is there anywhere in the world where you can enjoy driving normally, where you aren't shafted by all kind of stupid laws. I'm just sick of it here, they placed speedbumps on a straight stretch of private road at work now, the ones you have to go over with <10 mph or it scrapes ( even with no throttle in 2nd gear it's too fast :().

Is there a country or island or place in the world that:

Isn't obsessed with shafting motorists by planting whole woods of speed camera's ?
Doesn't have stupid low speed limits, that are getting lower and lower all the time for stupid reasons like environment.
Doesn't have that many tree hugging environmentalists who think cars are evil ( how on earth do the Swiss and Austrians agree with 2k fines for speeding because its an ''environmental offense'', are they sodding retarded ?) .
Has people that don't just think ''speed kills'' and don't moan about people driving too fast because they fear cars.
Doesn't have speed bumps every 300 yards.
Has good wide laned roads THAT ARE NOT CONGESTED.
Has good free parking, with wide parking bays and no silly places pillars or poles.
Where you can leave your car anywhere without fearing someone will steal/damage/vandalize it ?
Where the government doesn't take OVER 60 YEARS to decide to build a small 7 mile stretch of motorway connecting 2 end bits of motorway with each other, and where they don't choose a 700+ million € ''environmentally friendly'' project ( sinked motorway in the ground, lots of ''ecoducts'', tunneling under ''nature''(grassland used for cows atm)) over the cheap 100 million option to just build on the land reserved for it for over 50 years now... ( A4 extension in Holland between Rotterdam and The Hague)
Where you don't pay over a thousand per year in ''road''tax that doesn't even get used for the roads? And the government doesn't want you to drive the tiniest crappiest car around.
Where 2/3rd to 3/4th of the fuel price isn't tax.

/rant

I'm just sick of anti car Holland tbh...
Is there a country where motoring is mostly a joy ?

Yep, America would cover most of those points, i often day dream about how ridiculously cheap the fuel is over there.

Dunno what it costs now, but when I was out there last July I brimmed the tank of the Chevrolet Malibu thing for what was the equivalent of about £25!

:(

Mate who lived there for 12 years said California hates cars. When i went to Canada there was not a speed camera in sight when i was in Ontario. No dangerous and uncourteous driving either and hardly if ever heard a car horn. Quite a nice country to drive in.

I never got the impression that California hates cars! Fuel was more expensive than Nevada but not a huge amount different really and the roads were pretty nice.

He was ranting at the time about the strict emissions and general laws, the possible plan to ban black cars (yes, though it never went to fruition). I think his main gripe is all about the green brigade taking over the place.

Something I noticed very early when I moved to the Neths is, the government hate cars but Dutch people love them.

Which is why I see so many lovely old yank tanks driving about here :)

driving in holland sucks, i feel for you.
not only are taxes stupidly high on cars, but the speed limit enforcment is on another level.

Petrol in London Canada is 101.2 ish. It will be a little cheaper in the states.

Driving in Canada is pretty decent. Driving can be a little aggressive in cities but most people are harmless. Not like the UK when they are overly aggressive. Congestion is generally low. I much prefer driving in Canada than in the UK.

Yes i found the odd 'agressive' driver there is pretty much your daily driver here.

So you're basically looking for somewhere with a load of inconsiderate nature destroying jerks?
South africa maybe?

How did you stray in here? This forum is for people who generally like driving and don't see cars as appliances.
