Flight taxes hiked to bail out banks

He said that tax rises are used to 'plug the national finances'. When are they not to do this? How did they get from that to banks? Far more has been spent on other parts of the economic policy.

What a stupid article.

Darling in idiocy shocker? Even removing the bank bailout, Labour have created the biggest overspend and highest national debt since WW2...

Do you think the tory party will get get rid of this tax if they get in?
No they won't they are as bad each other.

Probably not, but the Tories do have a much better track record of economic management than Labour do. You can't prevent recessions, but if you manage the economy correctly, then you can afford to mitigate their impact.

Except they'll privatise BAA and BA aswell.....:(

We both know a lot of that is due to shear luck more than actual policy.

Both BAA and BA are already privatised

I'm not sure how you can say that fiscal restraint and careful investment via government spending is not actual policy...

Labour always fail because they create an entitlement, rather than a responsibility culture, and because they behave like a credit whore whenever they are in power to buy votes through bribing the electorate with their own money...

Why is that a bad thing? Government run companies have a strong tendancy to be poorly run with bad working practices (just look at Royal mail or British leyland...)

The government organisations are companies, like the home offfice is a company etc... even your local council is a company ie ltd.
what needs to be done is bring the ability to sack people in the public sector inline with private, make it more results based etc...
