Basically I'd rather not have this sent by royal mail given their current state of affairs and I need it by next Friday. Does anyone know which method ocuk would ship this given that it's £40?

Even if it is sent by RM, i'd be shocked if you didn't receive it by Friday. I've sent a few things via RM 1st class recorded over the last week or two and the longest delivery time has been 2 days.

Have a look in your checkout. It will probably be DPD Next Day.

RMSD is delivered separately to their standard mail though and as far as I know they are not on strike, so all should be well.

You could just phone/webnote and ask too.

I just tried to order the ocuk blu ray drive and free shipping was RM 1st class post ( not even recorded :( )

So given the current state of the postal service ive decided to pass

Stoke to Newcastle-under-Lyme too far for you to simply go & collect it?

I bought a game for £41 with free first class delivery, but it was one I wanted desperately so I foolishly bought it again for £46 + £6 special delivery. (ebay, not one that can be had in shops)

They both arrived the next day. While royal mail is on strike.

._.

A friend had one off me for £45 but still :(

You've gotta be lucky with RM at the moment, i've been waiting over a month for my phone to come back from the insurance company.
But I recieved a few packages like normal.

Thanks for all the replies guys.

Weighing them all up I think I may have to give this one a pass on OCUK then.. :(

Well known place is doing it for £1 extra, inc delivery and with a well known courier..

RM Special Delivery isn't affected by the postal strike.

I think different mate.

Royal mail are subbing out large ammounts of mail (a lot of which is Special Delivery) to hauliers like Stobart - I'm guessing RM's logistics staff are striking also? - you'd be surprised at the volume sitting at RM's Daventry / Crick distribution centre alone.

Tbh, I haven't trusted RM since a big package of the girlfriends clothing went 'missing' a while back. They were massively unhelpful and needless to say we never got it back.

I wouldn't mind so much if it wasn't urgent but it is so I'll pass this time.

He's right; Special Delivery is not affected. The managers are dealing with the sorting of Special Delivery when the usual sorting staff are striking. Those deliveries are guaranteed and fines are levied for deliveries not on time.
