just recieved my samsung yesterday from overclockers. I bought a b grade one but everything seems ok apart from something rattling around inside.
I went from a 19" so the resolution and size is amazing for me, i must say though the viewing angles compared to my four year old hans g 19" are incrediably bad. Used to be able to look at the hansg in any direction and it all looked the same unfortunatly the samsung is not the same:-( . But for £150 delivered i cant really complain. Quality is great though and love the looks and the size so all in all i am happy with my purchase.

I seem to notice the colour shift in TN monitors especially, so my advice would be to go with the IPS panelled monitor of your choice/wallet size.

that is true, but remember a 24" ips panel is almost three times the price of a TN panel of the same size so it is just out of most peoples reach. If you can live with the small 22" and low resolution then then from what i have read the dell 22" e-ips panel is the best choice, i was looking at getting it and found a well known site doing refurbed units with a 3 year full dell warranty for £160 delivered which is a bargain in my eyes.

thanks all this is my point the viewing angles as i have never used a lcd monitior before as i have a crt i just dont know how good these tn viewing angles are people say that you just need to move yur head a inch up or down and it makes half the screen duller mmm.

the 3 choise i seem to have got it down to is

£199 Dell UltraSharp 2209WA 22" IPS (Poor contast, Low res)

£300 to £350 NEC MultiSync EA231WMi-BK IPS (1080p res no reviews of this yet and when its out)

£440 Dell UltraSharp U2410 24" IPS (1200 res Seems to be the best 24" up there with apples or better but has a lot of problems and people say wait for the A01 version but when is that)

so i have a choise between 22", 23" and 24" ips panels. I think the 22" is to small and it would have to be between the nec 23" and dell 24" i prob could live with the 1080p of the nec and save about £100 i would have thought and should be the same hight as my 22" crt which is 12" high i want the same or higher.

The dell i do like would not mind paying the price but there seems to be so many problems with it and for the price it should be perfect and i dont know if overclockers have sorted out the infomation for the dell 3 year warrenty.

any thoughts on this anyone know if overclockers are getting the nec ?

IPS is only LCD technology with even remotely as good colour/gamma stability... when looking straight from center.
TN doesn't have vertical viewing angle with anykind stability of those, VA panels have horizontal gamma shift compressing dark shade differences from straight angle and neither is IPS perfect but fortunately its weakness shows from off centre angles.

And advertised contrasts values are primarily BS, just like response times of RTC-less TNs.

should be the same hight as my 22" crt which is 12" high i want the same or higher.
Then forget overhyped 16:9 desk space wasters. 23" low screen is 11.3" high. (24" 16:10 is 12.7" high)
Besides that nominal 10% lower vertical res becomes easily 20% less usefull space after you deduct menu/tool bars of OS and software.
