My Dell 3007 WFP just died, 3 months out of warranty :( Dell WONT help!

Right.

Its not the inverter or power boards, as it does power on when plugged in, if no DVI cable is present it goes into self test mode (lit up, cycling through lots of colours).

Its not the CCFL lamps, as above it lights up.

Looks like its the logic board... $69 + shipping from http://www.lcdrepair.us/
Anyone know how to open up a 3007wfpt?

When the parts arrive I will update the thread with stripdown and rebuild pictures/details... Hopefully help someone else if they get the same issue.

Thanks,
Sam

that would be great if you could, good luck with the repair just out of interest could you post the links to the guides too.

I think my guarantee might of run out also on my dell 30", since my service tag just says ring dell on their website.

this is why you should take out extended guarantee.

good luck anyhow.

Good luck with the repair... but I wouldn't hold your breath :(

Judging by the pic tho its not physically that much bigger than my 23" Samsung... weird.

EDIT: Using the CD as a size reference it is about 25% larger both width and height :D

That's because the "size" is measured diagonally ;)

Shame about the fault though samcat, I have a 2001FP that's still going strong several years after original purchase...

It was a 3 year guarantee I had...

Have you tried any connections other than DVI? Mine had the same symptoms and it turned out the DVI port was dodgy - all other connections worked fine.

Managed to get mine replaced though as it was still under warranty.

Its the 3007, only got one DVI connection... Would love the 3008 but the price!! Over double what I paid for this when new!

:)
Its a monster, would happily have one again except for the price (got it for a bargain price when I bought it!)

Fingers crossed I can fix this myself. Cant find a guide on opening it up at the moment, so just working my way around and figuring it out and taking pictures...

I do know that.........

I'm just suprised as I've never compared them before - I've always mentally thought the 30" panels were massively bigger.

I'd say the resolution jump is more significant than the physical size anyway, 1900x1200 to 2560x1600.

Disassembly is very similar to this video.

I used my plastic Ipod/laptop disassembly tools to open it up, wanted to remake all connections and get serial numbers for the pcb's.

Good news... Disasembled it, took the logic board completely out (removed all connections that ran to it at both ends, so from the logic board and whatever it plugged into), Also removed a couple of other connectors I could get to that were nothing to do with the logic board.

Now I am pretty sure after having plugged them all back in and removed them a 2nd time that one of the connectors running to the logic board wasnt properly 'clicked' into place.. Much harder to remove it the 2nd time around.
Put it all back together again and its all working fine! For 8 minutes so far at any rate:)

Nice, and cheaper than I thought too!

Result!

Thanks. I am, costed up a replacement with the best discount I can get.. Very expensive!
So now looking into alternatives, upto £500 (and dont want multiscreens, been there before) and DELL aint getting my money again.

like what the heck? As you stated it was a 3 yr warranty not a 3 yr and 3 months warranty. You make it sound like your monitor failed on the hour on the minute of the 0000 hrs of warranty expiry. Life sucks but you had a good time with your 30 inch for 3 years. Don't blame Dell for it. Next time you buy anything from any company for any amount of warranty, make sure they will honour it even after the warranty expires

I do sound bitter and like an arse but am sick n tired of ppl wanting unwarranted stuff.

Its wasnt that they wouldnt honour it, which re-reading it does sound that way.. The guy on the phone was helpful but they wouldnt do anything to help. And I cant believe they dont offer a repair service on this high end monitor, when everyone is talking about saving the planet keeping good kit going as long as you can is important!
