Is this wheel worth £300? im interested in a new steering wheel. Or should i just go ahead and buy a G25?

From what I hear, it's not a significant enough improvement on the G25, and the sort of people who'll get one probably already have a G25!

What I'd do is look out for a second hand G25 - most being sold on won't have seen much use.

I picked up a G25 recently brand new for £99 so if you keep an eye out there may be other offers as stores try to shift stock. The G25 is great and I cannot see the G27 being three times better;)

If you are prepared to spend £300 on a wheel you may want to look at the Fanatec range, they work on PS3, XBOX 360 & PC, unlike the G25 which is not supported by the 360.

reckon it's about £100 too much, for that money i'd also be considering the fanatic porsche wheels, pedals and shifter setups.
edit; exactly what he^ said sorry :)

Anyone know if the price of the G25 will go down any time soon? Really fancy one but dont want to part with £130.

Think you missed the boat personally, they where selling em for £99 to clear the stock not so long ago, maybe if you shop around you could find it for that price. Havent seen it myself, £130 seems to be the average figure. Reasonable price imo, I have one, waiting on my Porsche Turbo S wheel as a replacement but I was very pleased with the G25.

Yeah i remember seeing them for £99 at a place end of august. £130 does seem to be the cheapest price thats actually in stock. Oh well :( I will wait and see a bit longer.

I also got a G25 from competitor when they were £99. It's a big step up from my old Momo Force, so much more real.

I can't see the G27 is worth anything like the premium for some more buttons + other minor stuff, plus you lose the sequential shift which is great for handbrake turns in Rally sims.

Ill soon own the G25 for my PS3 and PC... Its just a shame i wont be able to use it with Forza 3, i would rather use the joypad than the POS microsoft wheel. (might sound a bit harsh)

Although Ive never used the MS wheel it just looks limited and nasty.

The MS wheel is terribly bad compared to the G25 or a wheel at that standard but it isn't that bad of a wheel for a console.

Got my brand new G25 from Logitech the other week ;)

My original (nearly 2 year old wheel) lost reverse but they sent me a whole new wheel :O

Great support!

In a nut shell yes it is worth that amount of money as a new product.
It is NOT however when you can buy a G25 for less than half the price which is effectively a very similar product.
Personally i dont think the differences and silly toy lights (which wont work on PS3) are worth the cost difference over the G25.

Spend you money wiser and get the Fanatec Turbo S or GT3RS.
The belt drive in the Fanatec hasnt the deadzone of the G25 and has more features with stronger FFB as well.

Unquestionably the Turbo S is currently the best and also as a bonus a multiplatform wheel.

Really ? That's interesting. I have a momo force and i love it. Is the difference that much ?

Depends what you drive. I am playing GT Legends + mods at the moment and without the clutch assist and auto-blip you have to heel-toe to downshift at speed on anything powerful and rwd. If you just use the paddles and no clutch then its better but much less in it.

You mean the original Momo Red? I meant momo racing force but I suspect the same applies.

Yeah i have the momo racing force. I have had it for about 2 years or so. Im getting back into LFS, its so tempting to get the G25 as prices are really good at the moment.

If you are serious about spending £300 on a wheel, get the Fanatec GT3 RS Clubsport. I recieved mine from Germany a week ago and loving it. Especially the pedals. The clutch feels like a clutch, the brake feels like a brake and the accelerator is, well like a accelerator. All aluminium and weighs a tonne so will not move whilst in game.

Considering this was posted in a console section I assume the OP is wanting the wheel to play consoles?

The Clubsport Pedals @ £200 are a bit OTT for console usage.
Nice that they are and yes the GT3RS wheel is good but his money would be better spent with the Turbo S wheel and standard pedals.

Or consider this get a G25 wheel, uses its pedals and buy the Turbo S "wheel only" using the G25 as a backup wheel for PS3 or PC.
G25 pedals are hard to beat tbh for feel.

Ive been testing each for a few weeks now...

which wheel stand do you prefer Mr Latte? I have the wheelstandpro as got a deal thru the site I race with.

deffo better to get the fanatec wheel and use g25 pedals, wish an adapter or something would come out to allow the use of a g25 on 360, I have the drive fx and while it works ok it feels a bit pants even compared to my momo. Logitech/MS are missing out on a lot of sales me thinks

Will be summing them up in a review soon.
Depends how you look at them, do you take into account prices, delivery dates, build, styling, stabilty, looks, positioning and ability to even attach additional wheels etc.

Both are very good products and have slight advantages in various areas but dont think any person would go wrong with either

Tried the G27 a few weeks ago - was quite impressed with the improvements over the G25 (tho defo not enough to justify the launch price).

The wheel felt a lot less 'robotic' (can't think of a better way to describe). Less fake almost. Doesn't sound so loud when your using it (at least on my units)

Lost the up down on the H shifter (apparently to improve quality of the H shifter, which does feels far far better).

The lights will work on the PS3, but the game needs to support them (latest version of the logitech SDK for PS3 adds support).

Sorry for the slightly OT thread hijack, but I was thinking about getting a Logitech DFP on the cheap. Seems like an epically old wheel though - is it likely that support will be maintained in the newer PS3 releases?

Cheers,

Su
