Hi Guys,

I'm creating a website selling electronic goods. I'm undecided on what payment and checkout service to use.

Inclined towards PayPal because its recognised, easy to set up and has reasonably low fees. And for checkout Im thinking Google Checkout.

Could anyone recommend a better payment or checkout provider? Ideally I want the checkout to look unbranded - although this may be a job for the web developer guys...

Much appreciated.

Are you talking completely custom integration?

Have you thought about buying a cart off the shelf that has integration with the payment gateways you might like to use?

Cool, i will check them out thanks. (Re Protx)

Looks like its £20 a month which isn't bad at all considering the goods im selling ain't cheap. (Sage business software is usually super expensive in my experience.)

Completely custom integration is what Im looking for yes. I want it to be unbranded if possible. Any ideas who offers the off-the-shelf cart?

The top carts all offer a range of pre-existing integrations.

But Interspire shopping cart is the one our company chose and has pre-built integration with ProtX (as far as I know nothing has changed since name changing to SagePay). Also has pre-built integration with PayPal's various offerings.

Do the math on Paypal API and Sagepay for complete integrations and find out which will work out best for your products taking into account the amount of items sold.

Dropped PayPal for online payments when I used to do hosting, they always seemed to find a way of screwing me as the seller!

Finally decided on Google Checkout and that was very handy - covered teh majority of cards that were likely to be used via PayPal anyway.

3.4% and 20p per transaction isn't that bad in my opinion....

Good Luck :)
