The Official Football Manager 2010 Thread

I just started as Wolves, doing ok in my friendlies so far. The 3D match engine is really nice this year.

Just signed Ronaldo (old Ronaldo) and he got injured before I could even play him :p

Any other sub £3-4m signings for Wolves?

Each at 3-4m? What positions do you need? (ooerr)

Steam just sucks hard, I can't see why gamers go nuts over it. Just adds an extra layer of pain to installation. It took me 3 1/2 hours from getting the game to being able to play it, first steam had to update, then it forced me to install the patch which installed RIDICULOUSLY slowly, then steam kept crashing while it tried to update the client. Even now sometimes it crashes when I click on the FM10 icon. Is there a way to run the game straight from the exe without having Steam open?

:D

Other then Steam going nuts and refusing to install the game when I first activated it, I've not had a problem.

Downloaded in about 10 minutes (including the update) @ 2mb/p.

:p

Scholes in his first start of the season (the thumping of Rangers away) was sent off :D

2 match ban in Europe! Didn't even know why I started him lol

Having played 3 Prem games so far my team are doing ok. Lost to Chelsea in the CS then the first league game was against Arsenal. Beat them 2-0. Played Hull second. Went 1-0 down until 88 mins when Pato scored then after 6 mins of injury time (yes 6) Pato scored he winner. Awsome.

3rd game was at wolves. Won 1-0. The performance was crap so I told them off. Over all I am pleased with the game.

Game is pretty good.

Get annoyed though as Im doing amazing in the pre-season then getting stuffed in the actual league whatever team I play as

I can relate, I don't think this game suits me. Annoying as I'm good at Footy manager live which uses the same engine :(

I think now that FM10 can be linked to Steam more closely than before you need Steam running. You can of course make a shortcut to the FM.exe in Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\football manager 2010\fm but I'm finding it forces Steam to run.

How are you lot viewing the games? Full match or Extended highlights etc.

I tend to do extended for harder games such as Arsenal, Chelsea etc and the less extended ones for games which I feel I will win. I might do extended for all games now judging by the performance against Wolves and full match for Euro cup games but with a faster speed.

Full match for the tough games, i.e Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea.

All the others on commentary :)

Not playing games as quickly though.

I normally do a lot of full matchs with Sheffield Wednesday, in 3D mode thingy.

I'm playing all games at normal speed with key highlights in all games.

Here are results since my previous post.

Rosenburg 2 - 4 Everton (EURO Cup Group) Went 2-1 down just after half time but then managed to pull it back.

West Ham 0 - 2 Everton

Everton 4 - 1 Arsenal They had Vermaelen sent off after 10 mins. Decided to change formation into a much more attacking one and it payed off.

Everton 5 - 3 Stoke Went 2-0 down after 16 mins, but managed to pull it back after a formation change. Mutu scored a hat trick. Here is a video of his cracking 3rd goal which won goal of the month award.

Wolves 2 - 3 Everton Though game, was finding it hard to get a tactic that was working.

Everton 3 - 1 Birmingham Dominated from start to finish. They only scored in 83rd minute.

Crystal Palace 0 - 6 Everton (FA Cup 3rd Round) Score says it all really. Cahill scored 3.

Everton 1 - 0 Arsenal (League Cup Semi Final 1st leg) Hard game. Arsenal got a very good side but managed to get a goal in 83 minute. Had a penalty shortly after but Jags missed it and Cahill got a second yellow on 91 mins. Would have preferred a bigger lead going into the 2nd leg, never mind I'll have to pull some surprises for the second leg. Also Arteta made his first appearance of the season! :D

Got a 3 more Prem league games, Burnley, Sunderland & Chelsea. Then got the 2nd leg against Arsenal and Ipswich in FA Cup 4th round. Then 4 league games and EURO Cup 1st round knock up games against FC Twente.

It's going seriously well so far, still undefeated in all competitions. 56 points in Prem League, 9 a head of Man City.

Here are the Spanish lads I got in.

Marc Muniesa - free from Barca

Not doing so bad atm, i don't like to sell or bring in a shed load of players as it doesn't do much good with team harmony. Only bought Mata, could do with a good right back hmm..
