the right one will look good, the wrong one will look a bit pap, don't think it would look particularly gay/ungay though. I have a canvasy satchel which I use for my netbook, but I don't carry it around much anymore

I like the neoprene laptop covers, cheap, can take a few knocks, and are waterproof (until the zip)

Hide the netbook in an old supermarket carrier bag,wear scruffy clothes,and don't wash.Not gay at all and a lot safer.
