Arite, here's the deal, this company I work for only hired me under the pretence that they were "guaranteed" this £1 billion contract, then like 3 or 4 weeks in it turned out we didnt get it, this JV we put forward was turned down in favour of this other JV.
So they said everyone will TUPE over, if they cant get you a job then you're lookin at redundancy, but if they do make you redundant then you will get Garden Leave which works out as 4 months full pay reporting to your house.
Now where I work there are like 5 departments, of which 4 are being moved to Essex (from leeds) so thats all them redundant cos no one will move, my department is being moved to Chorley (probably). And currently my department consists of (in this office) me and a temp. So its lookin like probably only me, and maybe a handful of others, out of about 150 will be offered a job that is reasonable.
Problem is, I dont want it. I've accepted a teaching job in China next year in Feb so I'd much prefer the 4 months pay for staying at home before I go, makes sense ye?
But, if they offer you a reasonable job, you have to take or resign, no redundancy or garden leave. So if they offer me a job in Chorley I have to justify that its unreasonable for me to go there, when they know that I currently drive further than to Leeds everyday.
Ideas? I've thought of saying that I stay at a mates in leeds 4 nights a week (I do sometimes stay there) and its like 5 minutes away. Or that I'm getting rid of my car cos I cant afford it, its not like I'm on loads of money (16k).
Basically I have to make it sound like I want the job, and I'd do it if I could, but I cant and its not my fault.
