Hi all

As a complete novice to overclocking I'm looking for a board as part of my first self build to overclock. I have heard that some of these boards take all the work out of it for you and make it very easy. But not sure what to start with. I know these boards are expensive anyway and I will probably never touch the clocking after the 1st try. So simple and stable are the prioritys. It will also need onboard sound as no plans for a seperate card yet.

The board will have attached to it:

i7 920
Corsair Diminator DHX 6gb DDR3 1600 Tri Channel
Corsair HWC-H501 water cooling kit

Any advice from anyone would be very welcome. Including is the ram ok?

Thanks

I would say either ASUS P6T SE or P6T Deluxe V2. If money is tight, get the SE otherwise if not go mad on the V2...I have both and I have been able to OC my 920s to 4.0GHz on both of them. ;) HTH

If your looking to Xfire 5870s then go for the V2 over the SE version of the board. The PCIe slots are very close together in the SE board meaning poor airflow and high temperatures.

No that's the new P6TD Deluxe. Looks exactly the same as the P6T Deluxe V2 save for a few small differences which are only noticeable if you read both descriptions side by side.

Just looked at the list and I can't see the V2 listed at all. So looks OcUK have either sold out or no longer selling it. Looks like you'll have to search elsewhere my friend.

P6TD is cheaper and slightly better and seems to have taken over from the V2. why not get it now whilst it's on this week only? I've ordered one so I can help you if you need any specific pointers.
