The "I'am excited about playing modern warfare 2 on the PC thread.

I'll be downloading it, SP should be good but there's no way i'll be giving any money to them after what they've done to the MP and what they've said about PC gamers.

Really enjoyed the COD4 SP campaign but never got into the online, BF2 and L4d(2) have that covered for me, so I have MW2 on pre-order and looking forward to getting stuck into it once it turns up.

It does suck that they've messed with the online for PC players and that they are trying to increase the price of games but unless there are early reviews totally slating the SP or there are major technical issues with running the game I will still be getting it.

Couldn't get into MW1 SP.. only liked it for its MP. I am hoping MW2 SP interests me more as it doesn't look like I'll be getting into the MP.

The difference is theres a market for COD4 based on its replayability - and were not talking about the SP game. For this COD replayability has been knackered so that leaves the SP game which, lets be honest, is going to be pirated to hell and back by a lot of people. I expect COD:MW2 to come down in price alarmingly quickly unless they write off the PC market altogether - and that may be a decision that bites them in the butt later rather than sooner.

Anyway, another vote for substantial price drop, probably within 6 months, then ill get it.

I'm not aware of how popular World At War is online, but the cheapest price even for that is £23 online. Retailers know that MW2 is a big name, and they're being charged through the nose for it by Activision anyway, so it won't be cheap for some time yet.

sp is worth buying but I find the multiplayer gets boring quickly. Not much variation and in the maps which are basically one large corridor.

I'd quite like to play the single player but given 360 pirates are muttering a game length of around 5 or 6 hours, I definitely won't be buying this until it's sat in the budget racks if that's true.

10-14 hours and i'll consider it at £20.

this game will be good but is not going to live up to the hype, just look at the singleplayer game footage we have seen, all the mechanics look exactly the same, static death animations with highley scripted sequences, its the same formula over and over again... and yet people are going crazy for it. Dont get me wrong im sure its going to be good but it is no way going to be the greatest game ever and I am getting fed up with all this MW2 blah blah this and its "going to be amazing best game ever" when there are so many more original titles here/coming in the next few months

the call of duty franchise is the gaming equivalent of the hollywood action blockbuster. it's not winning any originality or creativity awards from the critics, and the 'establishment' sees it exactly for what it is, in crude terms: a paint-by-numbers FPS game; shovelware; a reskinned, repackaged, rereleased product. it still sells well though, just like all of the sequels to films like Die Hard and James Bond will sell well. it provides a moderately entertaining experience, no matter how stale or predictable the format is.

i completely agree that much more exciting things are happening and being released within the pc industry, but the fact is that the casual majority will always enjoy the 'action movie' format of big explosions, dramatic climaxes (no matter how cliche) and a nice, predictable storyline.

personally i would love to be excited about MW2, because the first 2/3 games (3 that is, if you include UO) really enthralled me and were incredibly immersive. now the hollywood-dramatisation and massive hype always ends up in disappointment for me; plus, the ever increasing marginalization of the multiplayer experience in tradeoff of a good, solid (console) single-player discourages me. cod1/cod2's multiplayer was PC gaming sublimity.

I will not be buying this game on principal.

I support devs who at least give a damn about the platform I love.

Taking a backwards step into pile of dog **** then trying to sprinkle sugar on it just does not seem right.

Will also be buying, it annoys me a little that there will be no Dedicated servers but I really don't care all that much.

I CAN wait

and hopefully the killstreaks will be less horrific (I HATE HELICOPTERS!!!) and from what ive seen of the multiplayer it'll hopefully be less hiding in corners etc.

so yay MW2

Have fun with the AC-130 and the nukes then

I wont buy it till there is dedis or Price<£15

MP can be fun and adds longevity but I always find the single player parts of games better. Am replaying Modern Warfare now, missions like: Crew Expendable, Charlie Don't Surf, Shock and Awe, Game Over, these are among the best gaming moments I've seen. Really looking forward to MW2. Oorah!
