My Karpersky anti virus is up for renewal and i may update to their new version.
But I was thinking if i should just save the cash and use microsofts free anti virus instead, what do you guys think?

it is good and does come highly recommended from a lot of people on here as well.

thats the reason i use it from the people on here saying it was good.

i find it dosent take up hardly any ram or cpu either,i am using 8gb of ram so it shouldnt matter much to me.

but all i can say is try it and see how you get on with it and then try some other anti virus programs as well.

I took the advice of some members here and went for Microsoft security essentials, and i have not regretted it.

It does what it says on the tine and has found 2 virus within 2 downloads prior to me extracting them onto my machine, cant ask for more than that really.

OCUK do Norton 2010 for £16 which ain't bad.

Decent bit of software too IMO. For once.

Cripple.
Until fairly recently, I wouldn't touch anything from Norton/Symantec with a ten-foot bargepole, but I tried Norton 2009 and have to admit I was pleasantly surprised. It's very different from the horrible, system-choking bloatware of old.

It's still a bit of a tough sell though, given the availability of very capable free alternatives.
