Well i have started this thread up as per DampCat's idea to make a site where members from OcUK can review games, compile these reviews and decide on a scoring system to rate each game.

I will let DampCat give some more information about his idea and if anyone has experience in coding HTML/PHP or whatever code we can use for the site then I'm sure that will be appreciated.

I had started a site and had asked for reviewers but the thread I made was closed because I apparently wanted to make money from it and it was stated as self promotion.

Ok well, there are a few problems with the idea that'd need to be ironed out really.

The first, of course, is that we wouldn't be able to review a game until after it's release since we're all just folk here.

Another is that we'd be limited on what we can review, since not every buys every game that is released. Of course, this could be countered by having like 4 million people reviewing whatever they bought... but we could set a rule to say rview must consist of at least 5 opinions or something.

Somebody already volunteered to build a site and invest a bunch of time into it. It couldnt be affiliated with OCUK in any way, so we'd need to think up branding and stuff. This is not a self promoting money making venture, merely a way of being productive with our thoughts that we often share on here.

I have no particular interest in running it or anything like that, i just thought it'd be a good idea.

Go ahead and make suggestions or rip it apart. It's a democracy!

Yeah I stated it wasnt OCUK related or a money making venture and it still got deleted =[
 
I'd happpily review anything I bought, and I do tend to buy a lot.

Also not a fan boy of any system, I have them all!
 
I think this could be a great idea, also maybe add some type of "quick" review, meaning the person played the game, liked it or not but would not be able to write a long essay.
Problably would be better to separate it from the real review.
 
Yea, i have a wide range of consoles/ a PC obviously, and i play a wide range of genres.

So can we not discuss it in this thread then, will it be deleted, or?

If it is allowed, can a mod change the thread title to just Game Reviews, to show it has nothing to do with OcUK please?

I actually have something similar in pre-production, but am loathe to discuss for fear of angering the OCUK gods. There was also a post not too long ago from another member of the forum asking for people to contribute to his review blog.
