Upgrade to 120hz worth £100+

Have a look at the link below and look at the individual reviews of each on the same site.

From that comparison the Samsung seems to have slightly lower input lag which is what matters to you as a gamer. However if you look in the reviews the Viewsonic seems a tiny bit more responsive.

I'd say just go for which one you prefer the looks of or can find cheaper.

Anything by digital versus should burn :(

I'd much rather hear from someone who's a gamer who's tried both than these clowns :(

Rant over! :D

You can say over and over how crisp an image on one particular monitor is.... until the cows come home, even. But if you haven't experienced the other side of the coin, how do people know if this is actually the best you can get?

I've been using an LCD monitor for.... ~7 years now, had a 15" one for £200 back in the day, eventually paid £200 for a 22" 2 years ago, and earlier this year, paid £200 for another 22"! Latest one is now my main monitor, Dell 2209WA. I love the colour definition on it, and I can see the difference between it and my 2 year old LG 22". (Dell is an IPS panel, while the LG is a TN).

I couldn't say if a CRT is better or not, since I haven't experienced one for ages. I find though that if the refresh rate on a CRT is anything less than 75Hz, i get a headache after 5 minutes. But then again, why would anyone choose to use a CRT at less than 75Hz?

if you take your games seriously then you should have hit the order button already :p
im not sure which is better but most of the reviews i read at the time stated the samsung to be better but it was early days and things may have changed.

as for the dual link i remember reading that too but it's just an ordinary dvi cable...you dont need a special one should it go faulty(yes ive tested this).
*EDIT* my bad....it doesnt actually do 120hz with a normal cable
for fps games its far better than using the 60hz tft's which look like flicking through a comic but for everything else it seems pretty much the same....i remember reading reviews of how movies became so much better at 120hz ...lies :p

crt at 120hz is what i played at but some take it to the extreme and game at 800*600 with a 150 refresh rate...i suppose it depends on the map/game you're playing.

UPDATE! After using monitor at 120hz all i can say is WOW - i actually cant believe the difference, especially when moving around in FPS, theres no blur compared to running at 60hz. It also seems a lot smoother when moving the mouse about such as when we all had 50hz mice? and then clocking ps2 port to 200hz the difference is like that

The best thing about it is being able to use 60hz and change to 120hz and feel/see the difference!

Very happy :)
