As title...

I'm personally talking about SFIV, but I imagine it's exactly the same for most online games....

If I lose heavily to a good player, I mean really get shown up, I'll pretty much always send something like..

" Nice Akuma dude, WP, GG "

If I have a really good close game, get properly emotionally involved and eventually lose fair and square, I'll pretty much always send..

" GG "

BUT.... When I win, I very rarely send " GG ", just in case I come across as a smug ****.

So, what do you do, and how do you feel when you win or lose and get a " GG "?

alt F4 when loosing! hah nah i used to do that in c&c 1v1 but normally wouldnt say gg if i pwned someone. If it was a good close game and i wone i would say ul close game gg, same as u really.

really annoys me when people say GG when it wasn't. It's become custom for players to spam gg at the end of every dam match on fps games. Even when one team dominated the others. It used to be used in games when it really was extremely close and everyone would say gg because it really was an excellent game. The term is used too loosely imo, ****es me off.

i always say GG regardless of whether i've given an ass kicking or received one, i've always thought of it as a courtesy thing like saying thanks or please. If a relative gave you a sweater you hated for christmas you're not going to toss it in their face and tell them to do one.

Or maybe you would, i don't know :p

yea really winds me up on l4d wehn u play against a clan team and your with 3 other randoms, and theres alwasy one **** that that says GG at the end!:mad:

I never give a GG. I always gave a GLHF at the start of high ranked CoH matches, I gave "gg wb awesome (etc you get the idea)" once after i pulled a game from 100:450 tickets to 15:0. I don't want to come across as boastful when I say gg

On Street Fighter IV in real life I give a GG, but online I find it hard because I always have a sour taste in my mouth as lag always messes you up on that game, always, whether it be dashing, cancelling, reacting or doing a combo.

a cod match wouldn't be the same without a gg at the end, sometimes even a gh midway. im not a bad loser so im happy to say gg to anyone.

Times have changed though people dont even have the time of day for a prematch side deciding pistol bash i.e mohaa cod1 + cod2, cod4 you get screamed at for calling a bash lol.

I would always said gg. Don't care if I win easy, or lose badly, as long as the opponent was actually playing. People have given me abuse, and said it wasn't a good game, but thats their issue, not mine.

Thing is with games like cod, it's hard to say gg because you can't type at the end, the game instantly locks you out at map end. So in cod, i honestly got kinda lazy and rarely say anything regardless. But since I like a little sportsmanship, i generally log into clanbase and leave a 'gg' report. The only time I don't is if the other team have been insulting towards us during or after the match.

At LAN, I go find the other team, shake all their hands, say good game, and have a chat with any of them who are interested. I've had 1 guy refuse me, and 1 insult our team, but most people are generally quite nice.

Regardless of this, I seem to have a bad reputation within the UK cod scene. I don't exactly know why, but I've never really cared either. I'm fairly competitive, and IMO run a friendly team (inactive atm). Our #1 rule is not to flame other teams and I'm fairly happy with how we act. Sportsmanship and having fun is more important than the result. Guess thats why I hardly ever won anything, eh? :P

@Hank_Marvin - Most teams are disorganized and take 15-30 minutes to start a game which sometimes lasts only 5. I usually offer the other team to pick a side, regardless of the rules, just to get the ball rolling when theres enough people in the server to start. So from the other side of the coin, I hate it when people make us wait and wish people wouldn't search for games unless they were ready at the time. Not saying thats you, but I'm sure you've probably experienced what I'm talking about.

Tbh, I dont feel good when I massacre another team over and over on CoD4. Some of my favourite games are when its very even and we won or lost by 10 points or a few kills. THEN I say GG and mean it. Camp-fests, Sniper-fests, Nade spams, excessive noob tubeing, or constant airstrikes on a spawn zone. None of those deserve any kind of praise.

Easy win, hard win, totally wiped the floor with the other team. It does not matter why not say GG. At least the other team tried. If your better than the other team, and kill them senseless why not except them saying GG. What would you rather have FU you ankers.

Even if I get totaly owned I say GG. We all cant be pros, some of us play for fun. Even if that means you cant win every game.

Yeah you get bad clans or mixes of players who are very unorganised, sometimes because they are idiots or sometimes out of their hands in real clan matches but i wasn't really talking about what you said though.

I was just saying how i miss the organised clan gaming of the mohaa to cod2 period, where bashing was the done deal, was just a nice friendly feature of clan gaming back then, bash to decide then start as finished on previous map.

Also clans come and go so fast now, i keep banging on about the old days but we knew loads of clans back then, in jolt league, ed, cb, there was another league like jolt but i cant remember its name. good times.

I know what you were saying, I was just trying to give some insight on why people can get impatient and try to rush things :)

Which team were you in Hank?

Also some clans last longer than it seems, they just change name a lot. Theres a lot of people playing who are trying to get sponsorship as they can't afford or don't want to spend money on servers or such. Whilst personally I am against this my teammates are not, thus my team has changed name a lot, but as far as I'm concerned it was only ever one team.

lol ok, well then yeah people do rush things i guess, but i guess i found that more in cod4 because we played more scrims then real matches.

was in .:|TES|:. (full tag lol) mohaa for 2years, we played in cb uk obj realism.
Then I started the TES cod section which was active for all of cod1 and first bit of cod2. TES stood for The Elite Soldiers, we had best success in cod1, had around 20 members at peak in tes cod.

Then i split from TES and some members came with me and I made team eVinco in cod2 to cod4, now we play under eVinco in all games we play for fun, we were hoping mw2 would be something to get into but maybe not.

What clans you in and were in?
