To GG, or not to GG??

I know of TES. Always were a friendly bunch when I played them. :)

COD1
-----
.:|TBC|:. (the british commandos)
-ni. (naked impact)

COD2
-----
TEAM GEEK, kArnage, syKotic, Levitation, Team eSourceUK, Little Team that Could, Watch and Learn (this was all the one team, so in my mind I've only been in 1 cod2 team. We had several ED accounts, as admins delete inactive ones).

COD4 / Everything else
Watch and Learn, but rarely played the game as I hated it.

lol i remember the cod1 clans very well, and some of the cod2 names.

If im thinking right ni were much better then TBC?

I need to speak to my eVinco buddies who were in cod1 TES, got a feeling 1 or 2 were in TBC before i recruited them but maybe wrong lol.

Sure we played tbc and ni.

Well in RL sport I would always say WP or GG no matter what the score.

If I get gubbed I will say WP if it's close or win I would say GG.

It's regarded as rude to say GG to your opponent either before they say GG, or before you have definately won the game. For example, if I were to destroy an enemy offensive in CoH and it looks like he can't recover, if I said GG then it would be regarded as smug, also embarassing if he then manages to win.

When losing it's always nice to say GG or WP to the enemy.

@hank - Different types of teams to be honest. ni would kick you if you weren't good, tbc was a community more than anything else. ni had about as much teamwork as a flock of dead pigeons, whilst tbc had a lot of terrible players. I had more fun with tbc though. :)

re: leaving before it's over. I play scrims in full, but in officials, once the game becomes un-drawable, the result is over. It just depends if you care about the round count, or the end result. I'll always play a game out if the other clan asks, but it's pretty normally accepted that people leave when the other team wins. Usually at the end of a match, I spam gg and then leave to find another match. (short on time and all that)

Yeah i hate it when clans say good game before its over or laugh at you on their obscure home map, or even leave before all rounds are over, in some leagues that was fine cuz you default win the remaining round lol.

Year TES was more community then eVinco even though eVinco is more tight and we have been together for years now there was probly more fun in TES in actuall clan gaming, as it was more fun, in house scrims etc, fun practice sessions.

Also its easier for new players to joing a bigger clan then a small clan.

If i had more free time again i'd make a new clan, community based, would be a lot of fun.

But problem with bigger clans is getting everybody competitive matches, people who arnt great players but are great dudes still want to play so it's hard to keep everyone happy.

I tried to make an a and b team in TES cod for official matches but didnt work, so I made eVinco, more of a 6-8man thing. Made good gaming friends from it but probly not good clan gaming from the switch to eVinco, probly got too serious without players being up to it.

Im on the hunt for good clan gaming, might try cod2 again, see what community there is left.

Nice chatting to you aln.

For me the whole gg thing comes from Starcraft and it's basically used to show when you concede the game. So if someone says gg first after winning then to me that's bad manners.

In different games it has other meanings than literally just "good game".

In quakelive for example sometimes I do type fu after some random games of ctf or clan arena but without the disconnect, so next round more chat may come and for me thats part of the fun of public pickup games - the general ****talking.

I have always said GG whether I won or lost, but only if it was actually a fair fight.

Or even sometimes in l4d when our team was dreadful but it was so funny it was still a GG..

really annoys me when people say GG when it wasn't. It's become custom for players to spam gg at the end of every dam match on fps games.

That's true...these things have just become a cliched pleasantry. I always feel obliged to reply to my opponents 'gl', when we are about to start a game of online Snooker, but do either of us really wish that? I think not. :)

As title...

I'm personally talking about SFIV, but I imagine it's exactly the same for most online games....

If I lose heavily to a good player, I mean really get shown up, I'll pretty much always send something like..

" Nice Akuma dude, WP, GG "

If I have a really good close game, get properly emotionally involved and eventually lose fair and square, I'll pretty much always send..

" GG "

BUT.... When I win, I very rarely send " GG ", just in case I come across as a smug ****.

So, what do you do, and how do you feel when you win or lose and get a " GG "?

i only usually send a GG if it was a hard fought really close battle, weather i win or not

If I've enjoyed the game and the people playing have been good fun, I'll normally say "thank you for the game" :)

I just type it towards the end of the game, mainly say it in TF2 / L4D.

There are a lot of idiots in online games, that really ruin it for people.
