Sorting out my insurance and wondering how many of these sodding extras I need.

I've found a good quote, £514 with Swiftcover but then everything is an extra.

Legal cover, protected no claims, lost key cover, personal accident cover, replacement car cover and breakdown cover all come to an extra £195.60!

Also how big of an excess do you go for. I'm all for getting the quote down and having a big excess, which means I would stand to lose the first £1400 () of any claim I made on this policy!

Swiftcover are the usual lowest on a certain comparison site and are a good illustration why you should pick up the phone and ignore those horrible sites.

Swiftcover are not very flexible and have a hideous cancellation fee as my colleague has learnt.

What car are you trying to insure and how old are you?

Legal cover is great, my insurance company provided a really good solicitor FOC when our old car was hit by a JCB, claim was settled with no quibbles exceptionally quickly.

Go through all the steps, especially the job picker.

It'll take about 15-20 mins to go through the lot, but it's worth it

Yeah plan to do that when I get home, at work atm so can't spend too long on it ;)

I work in IT though and tried Computer Techie and Computer Op and didn't change much.

I was told Legal Cover is crap as Helphire or whatever its called will do it all for £10 or claim off the other parties insurance etc?

Fully comp, 5000 miles, with mum on policy, 3 years NCB.

Try Greenlight, Noel Dazely, Chis Knott, A-Plan, Sky insurance and Adrian Flux seeing as your car is modified. These are independant brokers who will carry more knowledge about modifications but age and experience might limit you. They tend to be very selective to keep quotes competative.
