F1 Designer makes an electric car - Epic Fail?

Ok I don't ever post in the motors section and I don't think this has been posted but I just had to laugh when I saw the artical here:

Now when I saw it was the F1 designer I thought ooo its gonna be a gorgeous looking electric car!!! Boy was I wrong!!!! It looks like he got his meccano set out and thought what can i make with this!!!

The one obviously stupid thing with it is that it has no roof!!! Hello this is England u know, what happens when it rains??

Sorry just thought it quite funny that 9m was spent developing this thing, even the Chinese can do better than that!!!

Clearly he's just built the platform with a basic body and cage on it so the car can be driven and tested.

The finished product isn't going to look like that. Do you really think they'd try and sell a car without a roof? It's just a prototype used for testing the technology.

the car will probably cost more than most people who give a damn about the enviroment can afford to spend on a second car though (he says its not intended to replace your gas guzzler)

Maybe BMW could then sue apple, because they used the name Isetta before that. The BBC better keep an eye out too, iPlayer is clearly in breach of apple's i[capital_letter][lowercase_letters] trademark.

Well then as someone who isn't a car enthusiast I would advise Mr Murray to have a word with the BBC as from that article it doesn't say anywhere its a prototype and reads as though that is the final design and shape of the car. Sorry but I don't know the history behind these things and if he wants to appeal to the mass market then that article does not help.

And yeah can't wait for Apple to jump on him with that IStream thing, but if it develops a system to get low cost electric cars on the road its all a good thing. We just need an infrastructure to support them is all.

i thought it was pretty clear that its not completed, in fact the second paragraph of the article alludes to it:

An electric car created by ex-McLaren Formula One designer Gordon Murray has been unveiled.

Three prototypes of the T.27 model will be developed over the next 16 months.

or maybe hes made the final thing and just to "show his workings" hes going to do some prototyping?
