which 70-300 tele for a canon 10D ??

hiya all

can anybody suggest a reasonable telephoto lense to go with my 10D ? (limited budget £150ish)

i did buy a early model sigma off a certain auction site but it woudnt work with my camera had to return it (err99)

does anybody have any suggestions??

for that budget i think you'll be struggling. think the best advice would be to search the second hand ads. Cos as you've discovered you would need a modification to get the sigma to work and the similar canon is around the £450 mark new.
 
There is also the Tamron 70-300mm, but for under £150 any lens you get will be a budget lens, and won't be anything special. Like Derek W said, looking at second hand lenses might be an idea.
 
I reckon if you go on that well known auction site you have a few options.
get a s'hand 70-300mm Canon. You might just get a new (from abroad) 55-250mm IS lens (should work). Canon do a slightly older 90-300mm that may be worth getting...

remember that at 300mm you will need a tripod a fair amount of the time to avoid blur/shake as I have found out with my Sigma 70-300mm on my 400d
 
you guys think it would be better to save up for something like a canon 75-300 IS?
has anybody got a sigma 70-300 apo dg working on a canon 10d ????
