I'm completely with the OP on this one, just because answering a phone is seen as a minor offence by many, and some people are not bothered by this at all, doesn't make it any less illegal.

If he repeatedly asked the taxi driver to hang up and he doesn't, then he is well within his rights to complain and ask for a reduced fare (which the driver agreed to).

TBH the taxi driver is taking a risk doing something he must know is illegal with a customer in the back, and is pretty stupid to persist in using his phone when the customer has repeatedly asked him to stop. The fact that he posed for a picture says a lot about his attitude.

If I found myself in that situation I think I would have accepted a reduced fare to be enough, but if the taxi driver was rude and made no attempt to apologise or explain his actions I see nothing wrong with complaining, he gives a bad name to other taxi drivers who work hard to earn a living.

@ dekez, i really dont think anyone in this thread is actually condoning what the driver did, we are just stating that the passenger should have just asked to get out the cab if he felt at risk and the driver wouldn't stop using his phone. Instead of overreacting and putting himself in more danger by trying to get this guy sacked.
