The Official Football Manager 2010 Thread

I wish teams wouldn't put 10 men behind the ball whenever they're playing me.

Blackburn are such a defensive side.

I know what I'm doing ;) have faith :p

...........

I'm not sure, shocking performance again against QPR!

Bloody 'ell, going to have to buck up their ideas against Blackburn.

Very lucky to get a draw away at Kiev :(

Anderson had a shocker, and had it not been for a very good free kick from Hargreaves I'd have lost :(

Givin' em a right bollocking for that shocking performance.

Played Arsenal, the 6th game of the season for me.

Came very close to "not winning" my very first league game :(

Until Berba scored to make it 2-1 in 93rd minute :D

:p:p:p:D:D:D

Right syke knows that I take ages to tweak the coaches and scouts at OT but I've hardly touched the physios (no I don't mean it like THAT!).

One reason I've not interfered (sigh! :o) with the physios is I'm not sure what, apart from the physiotherapy, what ratings make for a good physio. Motivation and determination is what I keep finding on SI's forums. Can anyone back that up?

Certainly seems sensible. It's what I've always looked for.

Just dropped £70m (40 up front and 30 over 24 months) on Ribéry. Way too much, but I wanted to get some miles out of him before he gets too close to 30 y/o. His position (left side inside forward) was the last attacking position I needed to fill.

Next up is a good left sided full back (recommendations welcome) as Maxwell is gash and Abidal is getting on a bit.

Then, Fagregas to replace Xavi and possibly Torres, although, I'm not sure how well he will do as a solo target man.

Anyhoo. First season went well. Won everything. Lost one game in the league; we really seem to get bloody lazy against the crappier teams, something my back room constantly remind me about.

I'm getting bloody sick of people poaching my staff though! It's not like it's chuffing easy to get a good coaching team together and when they bugger off after one season it makes the job even more painful :/

I'm so fed up of below par performances against "weaker" teams.

Last season I rotated and tried things out in these games :) seemed to work quite well.

I've just come back to win 1-2 against Sunderland. Poor again.

Defence is great, just not quite cutting it midfield or up front.

I hate how I have 8 physios at OT but if I want to sign a new physio I'm only allowed 3. :D So I have to sack 6 physios to get a new one.

Aye. That's seems a common problem with most teams. Scouts and physios are usually the first heads to roll when a start a new game. Take advantage of the mutual termination option :)

I had that on the demo A LOT. Can you think of any ways to combat this? I wonder if team talks before the match could help here. :)

This is the only option I can think of the moment. There is nothing from the backroom advice page, other than going to the tactics screen, so I try to play fringe players that might be a little more hungry to play their arse off, regardless of the opposition. Luckily, Barca have a large squad but I can't help feeling it might be a bit of an oversight on SI's part in '10.

I'd really like a "Pull your ****** fingers out and remember how much you are being paid each week" touchline option :p

quite a game i just had against west ham, they go 3-0 up in first 20 mins, couldnt believe it.

2nd half owen with a hatrick to pull it back to 3-3 then berba with a penalty to win it goes and misses :/

**** off 'Spurs! wanting 51 million for Modric.

I've offered 10 up front and 15-25 over 30 months.

*****.

Rossi decided to turn up for the Champions Cup tonight (Y)

3-1 up against Marseille. 80th minute Hargreaves sent off.

Could just edit your original post Tummy :p

Game is going well for me this season, been an expensive one though (not as much as last season though!).

Called in Micah Richards as Rafinha's backup (starting to take over him too), and a backup for DC.

Also got Aaron Lennon to replace Dempsey primarily, which has started out well.

Then Arjen Robben as the primary AML, with Di Maria behind him, which is going very well so far.

And the most expensive signing was David Villa at £20m (£10m over 32 months or something), who has started brilliantly.

I seem to find Villa/Aguero do well together, but it's pretty dependant on who I play. I've played three upfront a few times, and it worked wonders, with Cardozo as the guy to play in Villa/Aguero.

Other than that, I replaced David James with Cavalieri last season which went bloody well, and has made me not spend bit on a GK so far! So i bought Silviu Lung Jr as his backup, who seems decent so far.

Played 13 games, won 11, drawn 2. Scored 38, conceded 14, not happy about the conceding bit, but i've had some pretty epic games so far!
