Hi guys i have just got my shelf a Q9400
and now i want a better Mobo iv been thinking of geting the Foxconn ELA Intel P45 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-018-FC&groupid=701&catid=5&subcat=1155 for a bit now. But after reading that i cant change the cpu mutiplier im unsure. So iv started to look at the Asus P5Q Pro Turbo Intel P45 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-341-AS&groupid=701&catid=5&subcat=1155 and it looks good im just want to know witch is the best and if the Asus is worth the extra money

I'm not a big fan personally of the asus and have no experience with that Foxconn... but I'm assuming your looking for crossfire boards as both those have dual PCI-e x16 lanes otherwise I'd say go for the gigabyte.

As far as the multi goes you probably won't be needing to adjust it - the 45nm Yorkfields already run a pretty high FSB as it is so you won't have much space for reducing the multi if your going for a good overclock before the motherboard tops out - and the CPU will be upwards locked.

Id personally go with the gigabyte board,at least if it does go wrong you can rma in the uk, asus boards are better made nowadays, but their support is still a bit dodgy, one manufacturer i would avoid at all cost is evga, theyre rma is a joke

yeh i like gigabyte but im looking for a crossfire board

Well any p45 crossfire board will drop to x8 per pcie slot with dual cards in crossfire, if you want full blown crossfire at x16 per pcie slot your needing an x48 board which uses the older ich9r chipset, they generally dont overclock as well as p45's.

I dont have the money for an x48 board

P5Q is a proven clocker, I would say go for that. The foxconn has digital PWM for the CPU which is really nice, but I still have a feeling the P5Q Pro is better.

As has been said the P5Q is a great board for overclocking, but if you're planning on going down the crossfire route try and find an X48 based board.
I found a couple on different sites which are cheaper than the P5Q It's just a case of searching for them.
Unfortunately Overclockers don't seem to have a great deal of choice for decent LGA 775 boards anymore.

Can anyone tell me the best x48 board that supports DDR2 1066Mhz for around £80-90ish
