Hey,

I was wondering if the price of 120Hz monitors like Samsung SM2233RZ will drop any time soon? Just wondering if I should put off purchase a while or not.

Thanks,
nub

I don't see any reason for the prices to drop if the demand for them increases due to 3D becoming more popular. Unless you're talking about more competition.

Yeah I would assume that if demand continues to rise prices will drop. I'd think that more companies would jump of this bandwagon after it gets birthed into the HDTV market and then we will see a nice price war to drop the prices, Its never going to be as cheap as 60/75HZ panels though

What else would I be talking about? If it gets more popular other manufacturers will bring theirs out and prices will lower, and more money would be put into design and manufacturing which will also lower costs.

Well I'm not really interested in 3D, I just enjoy high refresh rates. I am still using a CRT now, and these monitors are the very first ones that make me want to buy an LCD! [=

Igor Stanek from nVidia said today on Games Developer Session (gaming conference in Czech Republic) that Samsung intentionally raised the price by 50% just because they did not have any competition. He also said they should be lowering that price in about 6 months, when there will be more 120hz models.
