This will no doubt make the news before long but the Microsoft Computer Online Forensic Evidence Extractor has been leaked online! :eek: :p

Now available on various torrent sites and such, people can get access to this tool, how useful/dangerous it is, Im not sure, but it will almost certainly cause a bit of a media circus of some sort :D

OK, nm. I think government agencies should concentrate on keeping hold of their own data before they go stealing everybody else's.
 
This doesnt really do anything that isnt already available in the public domain.
plus what would you really do with it other than for proof of concept.
 
Errrr, what took so long to leak it?

It's not like Law Enforcement Agencies are always the epitome of honesty or competance. :D

Unless there was some unique identifier attached to each agencies version of the software but even then, thats just a boo on you more than a jail time affair for leaking it :p
 
and as it says, it just does what they could do before, except quicker

and only really an issue if you have something to hide, and they have access to your computer

i wonder how well it does against full encryption software ;)

WindowsXP is currently theonly supported operating system. It is possible that COFEE will work on additional operating systems, but these operating systems have not been tested, and are not supported.

In other news law enforcement news reports that Windows 7's bit locking and other security features have proven hard for them to crack and as such is the choice OS for paedophiles :O
