Does anyone know a good web site for Oak furniture?, I am looking for a coffee table to go up against a wall in my living room.

Also, does anyone know a web site where I can get canvas paintings or pictures that I can put up in my living room wall (just above the coffee table)? just to brighten up the room and to make it a bit more interesting

try 'Oak Land Furniture' or 'The Great Furniture Trading Company' for 'reduced price' oak furniture - or do what we did and find a local tradesman - we got a nest of 3 reclaimed oak tables for about £200, bargain!

Habitat does a range of canvas prints to take away (also available online i think) , not my sort of thing tho - so not sure what they'll be like!
edit: search habitat art on demand

Make your own... My dad did. He got like a slice of an oak tree and made it into a table. Don't have any pics unfortunately. But it did look pretty good.

By "slice of an oak tree" I assume you mean a rough sawn board of oak with waney edge?

You would need a surface planer, thicknesser and a ripsaw to get the timber into the dimensions you want. Then you would probably need sash clamps a biscuit jointer or spindle moulder to join the boards to make the top. The legs would need to be mortised into the top, which could be done by hand.

Not really feasible for most people. If going this route you would be better off buying PAR Oak from a timber merchant. But it'll probably cost more than if you were to buy something ready made.

Better off finding a decent small furniture maker and seeing what price they can give you. If you go to these big stores the furniture is rarely well made and very expensive for what it is.
