Hi

I recently got a Titan Cyclone with a P7P55D Pro motherboard, and I've noticed that when booting I get a couple of red LEDs come on. One next to the 24-pin connector, then when that goes out, one near the graphics card (I think).

They only come on for a few seconds and then it proceeds to boot. There's nothing to indicate any problems with the system (games run fine, temps are nice and low, etc.), I'm just wondering if it's normal for them to light up at all (like it's checking the memory before booting or something).

Thanks :)

I have this board (well the vanilla P7P55D) and I'm sure the M/B checks all components first, eg RAM, CPU and video before boot. Those red LED's are the M/B showing its check. If any light stays on, it means that component failed the test.

Indeedy.

My mobo has four LEDS for CPU, RAM, VGA, BOOT not necessarily in that order. My graphics card was playing silly beggars a while ago and the red LED next to VGA stayed on and prevented POST going any further.

Of course it won't tell you what exactly the problem is but it narrows the component checking down for you.

Cool - thanks :)

In the manual it says that the LEDs stay on if there's a problem, but nothing about whether they should come on at all, so I just wanted to make sure.

Cheers

i think it they "stay on" if theres a problem means they come on during the check.

or they would have said "come on" if theres a problem if they werent suposed to light up at all
