I dont know what to do now, 12 month contract and payed for 2 months
I dont know whether to leave BT or keep complaining

I thought BT was the best ISP?!!?!?

Any ideas would be great.

Thanks

If you give me your email i'll give you the CEO's PA's email, it worked for me. Last time I complained to her I got 300 quid off the bill, and wine sent to me next day. Make sure you keep calm and use spellcheck though.

Move to Be as quickly as possible.

I'm sorry to say that BT Broadband is quite possibly one of the worst broadband providers of all time, both my parents and ex-gf all have/had BT broadband and it is absolute garbage, so slowwww ALWAYS.

The man above is right on, I moved from Nildram not too long ago to BE Unlimited and the difference is insane - easily the fastest broadband I've ever used, awesome.

My last couple of months with Talktalk was the worst service I've ever recieved. Syncing at 1meg, actual download speed wouldn't go above 2kb/s. Dial up would have been twice as fast, I couldn't believe how bad it was. It wasn't my line as it was ok before that, started off at the kinds of speeds I excepted and then tailed off as time went on.

Absolute rubbish.

Adsl is crap compared to fibre optic, we have a long time before BT replaces all copper cables, my dad works for BT and I have seen him fix a junction box and that takes weeks, car crashed into it and you have to make sure every connection is right, now replacing every single street with all optic cable is expensive and would/will takes years

Same, except I was with BT. Getting slower than dial up speeds for a while. It wasn't my line or home wiring either, because I haven't changed anything since I moved to Be and I get 22.5 out of the 24MB. My download attenuation actually went up lol.

0.2mb? In no attempt to rub that in at all, I just did a check:

BT aint all that bad but you beat my upload speed that's for sure.

I've been with BT for years now as there isn't anyone much better on my exchange, they've been fine 99% of the time even if the pings are a bit high, i get throttled at peak times to 170k and currently there is something a bit...wrong with my line as the above speedtest shows.

???? I got referred from the ex ceo of BT ben verwayeen after finding his email on a forum. He told me no longer worked for BT but said he'd pass it on to his team, I got a reply the next morning from claire heaton who got my broadband expedited and activated within 7 hours after two months of chasing up and countless useless engineers and hours on the phone, not only this - they removed the original 100 odd quid line connection fee and and gave us 6 months free broadband, and yes I did get a box of several different wines as a goodwill gesture sent in the post to me.

Im getting 0.2 as well. Has been like that for the past month. Going to be that for the next year. I can't change providers either as I live in uni halls :(.
having to plan ahead, loading videos up half an hour before I want to see them is annoying.

Ha, I thought the same thing, after 10 years of being on cable with Comcast -> NTL -> Virgin. I was forced to look into this ADSL stuff due to moving into a new flat where I couldn't get cable.

I figured I'd just go with BT as they were a name I thought I could trust. Went for the option 3 'Unlimited' broadband. First month was ok and I was getting 6 meg, sure, it wasn't as good as the 20meg I'd just left from Virgin, but better than nothing. I mainly used it for watching the Sky player because I couldn't get Sky TV in my flat either.

After the first month my connection dropped to <1 meg, after several calls to complain I was told I was being capped due to going over the 100gb/month limit on the Unlimited! Option 3. This made the Sky player unusable, despite the fact that there is a specific section in BT's Fair Usage Policy which indicates that the 'Network Management' throttling does not apply to video streaming services.

After a long battle through Ofcom and Otelo, who did nothing other than back BT and keep telling me they have a fair usage policy so it's my fault, I did the best thing ever and bought myself out of my 18 month Contract with BT (Despite only being 3 months into it) and moved to BE. Been with BE for months now and get a solid 11meg with no caps or limits and it works great.

I'd never go back to BT ever again, I've talked 5 relatives into moving from BT to BE and they are all happy, my brother most of all who went from 6meg to 15meg. So my advise would be to leave BT if at all possible.

Have you done the usual tests in the main socket?
My speed doubled when I removed the ring wire.

Surely if BT have sold you "20mb" broadband and you're only receiving 0.2mb then surely the sale of goods act comes into play, or they are contravening trades descriptions ?
Also, is there not a period where you can cancel the 12mth contract, ie in the first 2 weeks ?

Oh, and as someone above said, move to BE :)
