kinna crap really aint it :/ especially with the price hike! i got my student monthly payment and then went to buy another 5870 realising they were far too expensive and out of stock. lmao

I'm still waiting on mine from October 13th. When did you order? :(

With the back order on Asus then will be lucky this side of christmas.

I have seen some sites advertising 40 day leadtime on Asus 58x0 cards. Asus seem to be getting very poor allocation from ATI/AMD, even overclockers are only getting a handful a week.

5th of november , if its not gonna be here till christmas then im gonna cancel it. not waiting that long :(

should i have picked another 5870 card?

Id get it cancelled, be thousands ahead of you in the queue, and they only get about 1 or 2 cards in a week, so looking at next year now probs by the time they get around to your order, and it won't matter what 5870 you pick, as you can't get any due to the poor yields, they shouldn't be on pre-order imo, as they are going to be getting loads of complaints raining in now due to not being able to fulfill the orders for months.

did you get charged from OKUK out of interest?

You get charged as soon as you put the order in.

i'll phone tomorow and if this is true that they only get 1 or 2 cards a week i will just opt for another card

gutted tbh was looking forward to use an ati card again!

I still don't agree with that they shouldn't take your money on a Pre-Order item until its been shipped.

Geez! do they really do that? Take ur money before that even have the card ready to ship to you? thats appauling :S

im glad i saw this before putting in my pre order tomorrow! haha

I got stung once by OCUK doing this to me with the launch of Core2Duo. Got whipped up into a pre-order frenzy months before launch after going along with the crowd that there would be mass shortages, which there wasn't.

Still, as they will point out, was my choice to do it & nobody forced me - as it is my choice never to pre-order from them again.

I have said it before and will say it again. Pre-orders are fraught with peril. Almost everything I have pre-ordered (both here and elsewhere) has arrived late or not at all. No more pre-ordering for me.

I was very lucky i got a 5850 out of the very first lot of pre-orders and so far loving the card also the bonus of the lower price too.

Pre-Ordering is a great way for a retailer to make some free money (all be it interest rates are abysmal at the moment)
