ok, first up...

Chutney. I know I like mango chutney with popadoms in the local, but what the hell else do you do with it?

second, piccalilli... ??? yellow mushy stuff in a jar, never bought nor tasted it. absolutely no clue what you do with it.

thirdly... dried lentils.

Chutney / Piccalilli (horrible stuff btw), they are just accompanyments. People put them with salads, on sandwhiches etc, as you like.

Dried lentils, well you treat these as you would rice, you boil them (to taste), can use them as a base to soups / curries (i.e. boil them a lot!) or use them as an accompanyment to something else, i.e. dont boil them a lot and probably season them / mix them with something.

They're just ingredients, taste them, see what you think they will go with and make it so.

I use piccalilli and Branston pickle a lot in sandwiches, they rock. But i only like the smooth variety with small chunks.

Black pudding! I mean - why? It's rank! It's a black sausage filled with dried blood. What he hell is anyone supposed to do with it?

That is rough. I've never tasted it, but the thought of what's in it puts me right off! :/

Chutney is great with chopped pork or cheese.

Piccalilli makes my mouth water. I like it on sausage sandwiches or with cheese.

Red lentils - I fry a small chopped onion and a chopped tomato in a little oil then add a cupfull of lentils. Stir in the oil for a minute and then cover with water. Add a pinch of salt, a teaspoon of cumin seeds, half a teaspoon of ground coriander and a teaspoon of garam masala. keep adding water as it needs it and stir to stop it from sticking to the pan. When the lentils are soft and mushy (20mins), serve with rice and/or naan bread.

I'm the same, well Ive never tried it but it looks and smells rank and i don't like the sound of the ingredients. I always have to offload them to workmates if i buy a full English.

i'm not one for black pudding but i do enjoy a haggis!

my turn: pickled onions. baby onions in vinegar? Sounds like the worst thing imaginable tbh, and what are you supposed to do with them execpt eat them whole?

They're sometimes put on cocktail sticks with a lump of cheese at buffets. I quite like them.
