Foxconn Blood Rage GTi Intel X58 Just £139.99 Inc. VAT

fwiw avoid p08, i'm struggling to get stable using it although it'll get into win using most carpy combinations of volts. Will try p09 when I get time, there's still a strong school of thought that says p06 is best for everyday use. Worked well for me at 4ghz.

Well I've flashed to the 09 bios

So far it seems to like 4.2Ghz with only 1.3v which aint bad (I think!)

Gave it just over an hour of prime, load temps 70c ;)

Will give it a proper run when I get more time.

Combat Fighter what are your bios settings? and what cpu cooler do you have? I ask as it's my 1st i7 setup and would be my 1st intell oc lol.

Yeah Combat Fighter what kind of CPU cooler you using as those load temps seem very reasonable. i7 860's overclocked to 4Ghz or higher seem to be running hotter than that.

Installed my i7 920 and G.Skill Trident 6GB on my Foxconn Blood Rage GTi today and installed windows 7 and it installed everything even the sound was working I thought people was having problems with the sound card in windows 7?

I love this motherboard! the the ram, all I need now is another 5850 to crossfire :D

One thing thats confusing me at the minute is the PCI-E 2.0 slots. Apparently one of them is tied to the PCI-E 8x slot and if you have a card installed in the 8x slot it apparently drops one of the x16 slots to x8. That is, if I am reading the manual correctly.

Anyone have clarification on this issue?

I'm pretty certain the X58 supplies 36lanes for the x16 slots and the ICH10R supplies the lanes for the remaining PCI-E slots.
Ok according to the diagram on Anandtech's website the ICH10R can supply 6 PCI-Express x1, so I would assume it can also bundle the lanes together if needed.

However that doesn't really clarify it enough to answer your question.

I suppose what the question boils down to is:

Can I install my Xonar D2 card, and Belkin Wireless PCI card onto the board without limiting my PCI-E 2.0 16x lanes?

EDIT: I think in the manual it is referring only to the PCI-E 2 slots. See the 'Adding an Expansion Card' subsection.

afaik possible combinations are

16x 16x

16x 8x 8x

8x 8x 8x 8x

not what you wanted to hear but as far as I know a 295gtx doesn't saturate an 8x pci-e2 slot so you should be fine.

pci slots don't count in the above afaik
