Just watched this. I was really impressed. Fast, action packed, entertaining. Yea, fully deserves the 8/10 as a rating. Story line is pretty basic, but i dont think its a problem. Actings a little iffy in places, but again, im not fussed.

hand to hand combat to rival bourne. lots of "awwwhhhh" moments when he throws punches and combo moves.

Saw this a while ago. Not the most sophisticated film ever, but I certainly enjoyed watching it. A decent turn your brain off and just watch it type action film.

This is a great film, it was out at christmas so I guess some people missed it. I dont remember it getting that much advertising either

Quite possibly the best cinematic experience I have ever had. Like you said, an extremely basic storyline, but that didn't detract from it one bit. I can seldom remember a time when I got such an adrenaline rush watching a film, the first time watch was fantastic.

except in the bourne films you cant see the fight sequences properly as its filmed using a hand held camera and the camera man is jumping around like a lunatic.

poor man's version of Man on Fire imo. Liam Neeson is poor man's Denzel Washington. Still pretty enjoyable but I really think Liam Neeson is a subpar actor

Denzel Washington plays the same character in every movie he is in, Neeson is far better.

while that might hold true for some of his films...I will refer you to Training Day and the deserved academy award DW received for it...

tbh I haven't seen a lot of Liam Neeson but I've never been particularly impressed - any recommendations of films he stands out in?

Schindler's List and Darkman are the only two of his that I liked, the rest aren't really to my taste.

I think I am probably rather biased against Washington, most of the movies he is in just don't appeal to me at all.

Great movie, rented it once, didn't really expect much and the beginning is so so cheesy but it turned out I loved it. Hilarious action on par with Die Hard.

I loved it, Liam Neeson was absolutely badass. I really thought the character suited him and even though it's not the most intelligent or thought provoking it's definitely a good watch.
