I have a uni mate, who bought an Acer computer *shudder*. The sepcs aren't too bad, except for the Geforce 9200 which came with it. It's an mATX board, so can only fit single slot as the case stops right below the bottom of the board, and the PCIe slot is right at the bottom of the board. Can anyone recommend a relatively powerful single slot card? Budget is probably around the 120 quid mark

A 4850 maybe? Depends how much power it can supply.

I'd be concerned that any card would struggle to get enough airflow through the cooler so close to the bottom of the case.

Ive got a 4850 and its a great card, i would recommend it to anyone to anyone as it can run most games well on the market so im not fussed, and its really cheap at the moment, and also all its needs is 500 watts

It needs far less than 500w.

Ok, just had a gander at the specs, it has a 220 watt psu!!!! is it worth risking it or will things go boom/phut/etc

It does take full height cards? some of those mATX setups only take half-height cards.

To be safe you'd prolly be best looking at the 9800GT ECO models.

The 9800gt ECO seems a good option given the circumstances, the other option is the 4770, it soundly beats the 9800gt in most cases for marginally more power draw.

Just buy a better psu to run the 4850??
