Modern Warfare 2: Single player story discussion *SPOILERS*

Tbh I think overall the single player here stomps MW1. MW1 had some truly epic moments (Chernoble Escape, AC130 Gunship) but this just seems a more complete package to me. The Spec-Ops mode is great too. If the multiplayer wasn't whack I would be agreeing with the statements that this is one of the best games made.

I completed it yesterday, and I loved it, except for the last mission. I wasn't convinced about the boat scene and the taking out of the chopper, it was far over the top, they should have had more SAS troops supporting Price and Soap and killing the yanks, and finishing off the General. That could lead to an UK Vs UK battle in the next MW series.

Decent game, but I find the part where you kill innocent civilians in the airport disturbing and disgraceful, with all the **** going on in the world, to go this far, it is not on, game should be recalled and have this crap taken out.

you don't have to play it mate.

5hr57mins9secs later, SP completed. Struggled in a few places, but on the whole rather impressed.

Too short, and not difficult enough... if it wasn't for MP I would be livid.

I honestly can't tell if your joking or not?

If not, then lol.

lol @ Raven.

Anyway.. I thought it was a great continuation from MW.. roll on number 3 is all I can say.. untill then.. 3rd Prestige.. here I come :D

Oh dear... Its called CHOICE. For people that find it that traumatic you can simply skip it. The majority seem to not mind it and the minority have the option to skip it so why should the majority have the game modified?!

I found the set pieces to be good but found the story all over the place and a lot of the time you are thinking WTF am I doing in this mission right now whereas in MW1 the different missions as Americans and SAS all seemed to be working in unison and joined together well.

It's almost like a game with lots of short mini missions and a vague storyline in the background.

Took me 6.5 hours on veteran. Some of the points in the story are just ridiculously hard, such as the aircraft bone yard... it's literally impossible to stay alive some times.

It annoys me that its half a story and I don't even think the story is that good. Your plugging away like a trooper after Makarov then the story changes direction and you finish up half done. Should have put in an extra 4 hours of game play and finished up killing Makarov, but I guess that would mean MW3 would be further behind and less $$ for them.

Finished it last night, some really epic moments, I was a little worried as I'd turned it off the night before just before getting to the Gulag and it wasn't doing much for me. Then found Capt. Price which had me cheering at the screen, then and he went off and launched a nuke at Washington. The whole EMP moment at Washington was great and loved the fact that even the red laser dot in your gun sight was out, nice attention to detail.

The Shepard betrayal I wasn't expecting but loved yanking the knife out my chest and throwing in his face!

Ive just finished the single player... was EPIC! Found myself glued to it. Couldnt stop playing it, much like MW1.

Where is Nikolai taking Soap?
He's taking them into MW 3 :p

Anyone as gutted as me when Ghost (presuming that is Gaz?) was killed - I think he's a definite goner now :p
Also - did Price launch the EMP at the US? If so, why? :/

Lol my housemate watched me play a quick mission near the end and stayed sitting there till the end as he wanted to see what happened. Overall it wasn't that amazing, but the last few missions were best starting with the resuce from the prison. I hated the ranger spawn fest missions, but loved the SAS ones. Then again I was a fan of the original Sniper mission as it wasn't a spawn fest.

Yer I didn't get that, was Ghost actually Gaz? Because sounded very much like him (same voice actor in fact) but at the end of CoD4 Gaz pushes his head right up against Zakheavs gun, how would he have survived that!?

Good point. It's definitely the same actor and what not, and he's obviously called Ghost for a reason, it could be that they still wanted him to be in MW2 but couldn't have Gaz for the above reason.

When Sheppard shoots Roach, I was so hoping that Ghost did actually manage to shoot Sheppard, but alas not. :( I was so gutted at that point, but I vowed revenge and boy was it sweet. The fight between Price and Sheppard at the end was oh so epic, I was literally shouting at the screen "GO ON, GO ON PRICE! GET HIM!!1" and was screaming when Sheppard had him pinned, and the suspense of pulling the knife out and throwing it at Sheppard... My action key got owned on that part, but the bit where Price wakes up I just shouted "YYYYYEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!1!1!!11" :D

Oh so so epic.

Honestly, I felt it a bit mweh. Sure it looks OK, has an interesting story but I simply felt it to restrictive and one dimensional. I know that's what COD is, but now I need to hope the multi-player game is any good.

Haha yeah they make you think that Price dies as the screen fades and then it fades back in as he moves again :) Sooo good ;D

He basically stopped the Russians attacking with all their technology, as well as everyone else in the process. So it must have grinded the war to a halt. :)

Reply to Loowi_ashley and FOX (From other thread)

As mentioned in other peoples posts the game gets better in the last few missions so I should have hang fired with my response I suppose.

At times some of the levels just didn't gel and seemed pointless :S I just didn't get the who attacking in the American suburbs. Loved a lot of the missions.

For me I will always compare it to the first COD I know it's two worlds apart but I was gripped playing COD back when it came out.
