The Official Football Manager 2010 Thread

I think the game is a bit random, I'll play a game and lose 1 - 0, quit, load it up again and change nothing and win 6 - 0. That's the only thing I don't like. I know it shouldn't be the same everytime but it's a bit stupid when that happens.

Uninstalled it from Steam tonight and installed it again the proper way, fed up of that hunk of ****. Wish I didn't have to give up achievements though, they were pretty funky.

Why ?

What went wrong 'ickle Shammy? :p

I'm in my second season, towards the back end of it mind, and thats with a long weekend away :D

it just sucks, just adds an extra level of pain to pc gaming. Half the time when i try to play FM it freezes on "connecting to account" and I have to end the steam process and try again, then a lot of the time it forces you to upgrade steam to play, the patch took far longer to download in steam than it did through normal means.

Then a more minor issue but it doesn't behave properly in Windows 7, if you pin the shortcut to the taskbar then open it it opens FM as a separate tab on the taskbar rather than replacing the shortcut.

Not had a problem with Steam & Football Manager :(

Sorry to hear your pain! :(

man its hard getting out of BSS - Bromley FC

Season 1 - 11th 4points off playoff's
Season 2 - 7th 4points off playoff's

lol now thinking im not sure which season was more sucessful.

But i hope next season to at least get in playoff's.

Few more 4/5 star players in closed season and i think i'll be sorted.
It could be worse your team could be chester -25 points before i kick a ball:o Anybody got any tips on free players;)

Games to play;

Spurs in the Champions Cup Final

Arsenal in the FA Cup Final

Wait what?

Forest got promoted! Haha :D

They were awful in the League :p

Beat Spurs easily in the Champions Cup, 2-0 Rooney got a double :)

Beat Arsenal, 2-0 in the FA Cup final :p Srna scored a free kick in the 109th minute, and then Berba scored a scrappy goal in the 115th :)

Who to sign, who to sign :(

Our second season in the Premiership (2013-14), and a quality final position:

For most of the season we looked like we would contest the title race all the way to the end, but imploded in mid-March and took 2 points from our next 8 games, losing touch with the top and barely clinching the fourth CL spot on the final day of the season (and needing Wolves to battle back from two behind to draw with Everton for us to do so). Despite the disappointing end of season slump, I can't complain at CL qualification after only our second year in the top flight.

Accusations that we are a one-man team are of course completely unfounded:

Of the 62 league goals we tallied, Vela scored or made 41 of them. My next leading scorer was Naki with, like, 9 or something :P. You'd think that Vela would be valued a bit higher than £11m given that over the last two seasons he has been the most prolific striker in the world (60 league goals, 18 assists) but apparently not.

City, after doing the league and cup double, have just come in and offered me a managerial position with a transfer budget of £91m and a wage budget of £2.5m/wk. It's sorely tempting, not least because some of my stars are beginning to demand wages that I simply cannot pay (my wage budget is £300k/wk with a per-player cap of £30k :(), but I will soldier on as Leeds, and try and deliver a financial shot in the arm to the club by putting together a solid Champions League run.

Lineup as it stands:

For next season I'm looking to add a right-back, a quality DC to rotate with Camilleri and Situ, a worthy foil for Vela (Hazard was supposed to shoulder this mantle but was very disappointing), and perhaps I will contemplate replacing the long-serving Lung Jr, though it will be a sad day when he is finally dropped from the first-team, being the club's last remaining survivor from the dark days of League One.

Hadn't even realised this was out

I wish I'd have got Mattock ! :( He's now at Spurs and they're ***** when it comes to selling players :(

Realistic then. Presumably on this game Levy reports you to FIFA for clicking the mouse to browse his squad whilst the game informs you constantly that him and Harry are interested in your wife and most of your squad ;)

He hasn't really set the world alight for me and I'm keeping an eye out for a cost-effective replacement. He's been dependable, I guess (6.9 avg over two seasons), but not special. I chose him over Dodô just because he was homegrown, though having watched how Dodô has developed in my game, it's clear in retrospect that I made the wrong choice there.
