Britain is a nation of ugly people

Beautiful People managing director Greg Hodge said: "Asking why British people are doing so badly is a tough question.

"It hurts me - I'm English.

He obviously haven't been to Brent Cross shopping mall on a Saturday afternoon. I'm pretty sure there is a 'dressed up ugly people' convention going on there. They certainly try but about 90% of them is failing hard.
 
I saw a documentary a while back, can't remember exactly what it was called. But they actually had an interview with a Russian historian, where she explained that Russia and its previous member states have some of the ugliest men in Europe, despite the fact that they have some very hot women.

She basically explained that if you looked at Russias past, and the paintings and drawings that this didn't use to be the case. However, so many of the good looking men, such as the people of high society all died in the wars, most notably the casualties of the second world war. It was only those who got lucky, or the sick, injured and lame who made it through and thus Russia was left with a population of ugly men!

Quite interesting I found.

That said, Eastern European ladies, whilst smoking in their teens/20s, often become frumpy balls of shortness, not unlike Spanish and Italian women.

I do agree.

There are a huge amount of ugly people in the UK - I'm not talking about average looking people, I'm talking of people where I know they are frightened to look at themselves in a mirror.

I think that it's because a lot of them have a don't care attitude, I get the feeling a lot don't even brush their hair or have a wash before going out too! :(

(and yes, I'm British).

I didn't say I'd met them, just a comparison to most of the uk to us girls we see in the public eye. Models, actors etc.
Theres more natural british girls, some people say i'm wierd but i like my girls relatively pale and natural.

I think half of it is that your average joe bloggs role models in this country are prime examples of a Chavelanche! Either that or they're someone like Cheryl Cole which if we're being fair is far beyond what most UK women could ever hope of looking like.

When women and men alike in a country find short skirts crossed with Ugg boots and men with pasted down hair and Burberry-esque clothing, earrings and white sneakers attractive then you're doomed.
 
Personally, I believe it's a symptom of people being lazy.

Plus the culture here is very iffy when it comes to beauty. It's true that for the most part people can't hope to rival the beauty on the media - but, really I believe a *lot* of people on british TV are extremely ugly.

I don't watch soaps, but on the rare occasions I've flicked through and caught them (and remember watching them with my parents when I was really young) I think the ugly to beauty ratio must have been like 10 to 1. Just because someone is old doesn't mean they can't be reasonable looking.

I don't think British women are too bad.

There's some REALLY ugly ones, but theres also some very nice ones.

When I walk home through the town, I just focus on the nice ones. I wonder what the actual beauty/ugly ratio is in this country...
