Excellent, thanks a lot for sending that.

It's not a 5970 unfortunatly, but a XFX 5850, which is awesome =D

I love you FatBoy!

Can a mod confirm that i got one of the VTX cards that were in stock? Were 7 showing when i ordered but was back to preorder by time i finished ordering. Called the helpdesk and was told should be fine but call back if no dispatch email within an hour and now the line is constantly engaged.

order: OC918324

Thanks

Ok, if i pay £250 for one of these 5850 just now what meaningful benefits would I see over my 4890.

You'll see more performance, but they're not worth £250.

The 5870 should be below £250 never mind the 5850, the 5870 shout NOT £350, the prices of them are crazy.

A 5850 at £200 is still pushing it when it comes to value for money, they need to be sub £200, closer to £160-180 before they breach value territory.

I agree. A few extra frames means nothing unless I'm only getting around 25fps. Dx11 means nothing at the moment. My 4890 was £141 when I bought it but was around £220 at launch. It was the equivilent of say the 5870 at the time. How much is the 5870, need I say more.:D

I agree although not all ATI's fault. At launch of the 4890 there were $2 to the pound. If there were still $2 to the pound now the 5870 would be £230 and the 5850 would be £160 before ATI put their prices up slightly.

Bah, sod this.

I was hoping to get a 5850 as a treat for myself at Xmas.. that rate the prices are going up I won't be.

Probably going to hop from my 4870 512mb to a 4890 1024mb instead.

I switched from a HIS 5850 to an XFX 5850 and was told it would ship last friday, but still nothing. I've been waiting for a month now.

I get the feeling someone has forgotten about me and people that ordered after me get the cards first.

Its the XT4890 I have and I see OCuk have the XT5780 on pre- order for £373.99. Considering my XT4890 was £141 the difference is almost unbelievable. I'm tempted to say more but don't want to get into trouble.;)

Hi Fatboy, any info on the Saphire 5850'S?. I ordered one last week, iirc the guy in the shop said they were due yesterday (3483516). Cheers for the updates dude :), top service.

Just for your info smeghead, I ordered on 26th of October and was told I'm fourth in the queue, so you should get yours with the next batch (whenever that is).

Besides extra performance? Anyway you have not answered the question, what card offers the same performance at that price level? A HD4890 sure as hell doesn't. I'm not saying at £250 the card is good value for money all I'm saying is at the £250 price point your going to struggle to find a better card then the HD5850.
