Modern Warfare 2: Single player story discussion *SPOILERS*

I totally agree with the first post. I was a little disappointed at the length. I also found myself getting 'bored' of those random endings. How many times can I actually get blown up/shot/drowned before I die... oh yeah, I finally get shot and burnt... oh right.

Good game. Had my heart going but felt it lacked...errrrr... something. That scene in MW1 where you're in the car and then executed really set a mood for me. The story felt hollow maybe? I dunno... just wasn't the same. Tried to hard maybe? Right, I give up!

Oh and yeah, some of the story didn't make sense? Maybe I wasn't paying attention. Shepherd? Was I supposed to watch all the intro scenes? My computer flew and I clicked... lol

Oh (another edit), there is no other game that competes with Price sliding over the gun at the end of MW1... no other game touches that for me... I actaully remember sitting back in my giant leather chair and thinking "wow.... wow... what an ending to a diverse game". Then I watched as the trailers came up and a video of the thermal vision bombing started.

Don't know if i can be bothered to go on with it, as i find the first level dire, reminds of that old Operation Wolf where you don't control where you go, you just have to shoot em when they pop up/out, as the jeep moves you while you man the gun. :/

It gets soooooo much better - you won't believe :p

I gave in and gave this a go.. Its ok more of an interactive movie than game to me. Its just a load of set pieces loosley tied together with a vague story. Dont get me wrong the set pieces are good albeit quit short it just never quite feels as good as COD 4. Overall the game has been massively overhyped which was expected and hugely over scored in reviews. Its a game that is relying on its previous better incarnation to sell. Its a good game but not GOTY by a long run, unchartered 2 is still my GOTY this year. I have not tried multiplayer and i doubt i will tbh not my cup of tea..

Michael Bay doesnt make games but if he did it would be called Modern Warfare 2. Lots of action strung together by a wafer thin story, but that didnt stop me from enjoying it :)

Didnt find the airport scene disturbing at all, however last level where you absail down and then knife the guy at the bottom looking into his eyes as he dies, bloody hell.

Thought the length was about right as there isnt much filler in it, could easily have made it twice as long by spreading out the shooting with lots of running to places like most games do, and once the story is out of the way still got special ops to do.

Cetainly over hyped though, good game but been better this year hopefuly in two years time they do the right thing and finsih off the story and not drag it on any further

Funny first comment. Transformers 2? Sh!te.
And second comment, it'll only be available for XBOX 3 and PS9

Hmm, the whole Ghost character...Price didn't seem to mention anything about Ghost sounding like Gaz, and I know his head was blown off but I was really hoping somehow it would be him.

Over all I really enjoyed it. Although I'll have to say that I prefered Task Force 141's missions to the Rangers. The story wasn't too great, it was more like you were playing through the locations than anything, along for the ride. MW1s story still hold top spot.

I agree with the comments that the storyline wasn't as good as Modern Warfare.

I think I've got a good comparison to the difference in the two games. Has anyone that's completed the game watched Ocean's Eleven? And if so, have you also watched Oceans Twelve as well? Tell me that Modern Warfare 2 against Modern Warfare didn't feel like Oceans Twelve against Oceans Eleven...

loved the story sometimes it got a bit hanging on a thread here if you no what i mean but kept me hooked loved the ending i threw the knife in shepgerds eye lol god bless nikolai btw

I thought the singleplayer was epic in terms of what happens and what you get to see. Apart from that though I do have to say I was disappointed that certain areas feels totally rushed and unexplained. a lot of events are not explained and you have no idea what happened or how it reached that point.

Apart from that I found it very easy to complete and was quite short. I couldnt believe I had already finished it after about 4 and a half hours :O

I find it funny this is the second time the Americans have 'lost'. In CoD4 their eagerness to get in and fight got them nuked and they lost 30,000 troops. Now in MW2 they were overconfident (the invasion) and trigger happy again (shelling the Gulag) and then overwhelmed in Washington before the SAS 'sorted' it all out. In the meantime Price, Soap, Ghost and all the other SAS chaps are going about getting stuff sorted until they are double crossed by... American generals!

So why did Shepard betray them?

Didnt quite get that bit.

My take on this is money and power

He was fed up of troops fighting abroad being forgot about and not having the right equipment for the job. With the US invaded he got a blank cheque and authority to do whatever he wanted. He didnt want the war to end, as long as it went on he had power to do whatever it took to end it, he could turn the middle east into a sheet of glass if he wanted to. Of course the brits did things too well and found the evidence that showed that the war had been orchestrated and was a setup. Though at this stage after leveling washington I doubt the Russians going "oops our bad, soz bout that" would be met with "lolz nps" from the Americans

As for price firing the EMP, this would have ended the invasion of washington. The invading russian army would effectivly be cut off, would have no transport, no communications and no advanced weapons. Effects on American army would be temporary, can asume they have backup coms and weapons/vehicles stored in places that wouldnt be effected.

I could be wrong though

played it thought on the 360, very cool game! just bought a 4770 so thinking may give it a whirl on steam if it gets cheap!

I know for a fact, the voice actor who did the voice of Ghost also did the voice of Gaz. If that was intentional or not, I'm not sure.

I loved Ghost's mask! I want one!

Good game overall, bit more challenging on normal difficulty that MW was. Overall, good game I feel. And, the MP isn't even as bad as I thought it would be.

Shepard was the general commanding the invasion in MW1 (when all the troops got nuked). therefore he wants to get revenge...by killing thousands more? I dunno, the whole story line was very....bad.

I enjoyed the oil rig mission and fighting in burger land the most, oh and the ice climbing bit near the beginning.
