Lucky Seven Lottery Winners - made me chuckle

I thought I would ask my missus if she won the lottery what car she would buy just for comparison.

Her reply was Lamborghini Gallardo and an Evo 8.

Not particularly, but if it was me and my girlfriend who won £45 million last week she would tell me to buy a brand new Focus. She just wouldn't care, her interests lie elsewhere.

But would that be the first thing she mentioned to a newspaper about buying if she won the lottery? If she wouldn't care then I suggest not. You're missing the point really.

Everyone needs a car and a house and these are usually the two most expensive things people will ever buy so it's only natural that thoughts turn to them when asked what you would do with a **** load of money.

I disagree, I think you are missing the point - just because a car is the first thing mentioned, doesn't mean she instantly has an interest in them. It's an expensive thing she's wanted for ages and she's just got loads of money, now she can buy her expensive thing.

I can't remember the last time I saw a lottery winner comment on anything other than a car or a house to be quite honest, it seems almost the 'done thing' to say. I don't for a minute think these people are car enthusiasts or house enthusiasts though.

If she won I would make her buy a 59 plate 1.3 CTDi Corsa SXI to pose with for the press photos and then watch the forum go into meltdown. :D

Just noticed this:

Donna Rhodes, 39, was at a Remembrance Sunday event when she received the call. "I just ran up and down screaming: 'Oh my God.'

...nice and respectful :/

Its all well and good people comparing this to - "why doesn't she go out and spend £1k on a top end PC or why doesn't she go out and blow £40k on a camera and a load of lenses"...

But that doesn't really compare at all.

Lets just flip this around now, IF she hadn't just won the lottery and her boyfriend was driving around in a brand new Ferrari you can bet your life she'd be telling every person and their dog about it and she'd know it was 100 times better than him having a corsa.

Cars are different, she will know the difference as lets face it they are pretty much a neccesity, my 12 year old sister knows that she wants an Orange Lamborghini Spyder (Gallardo). My 8 year old brother wants a Red Ferrari.

I genuinely don't believe that she doesn't know enough about cars to not know past a Vauxhall Corsa.

You back together now then?

I remember your breakup thread :)

Yeah she realised she couldn't live without me. :p

After further discussions with her I think she realised she acted to quickly and it being her special week and all blew everything waaaaay out of proportion, and I wasn't being as bad as she thought at the time.

also just because she mentions "Corsa " in a press statement, doesnt mean she will end up buying one - probably just the first name that came to her (not being horrible - but for all anyone knows, she may think a new Golf is a Corsa or any other type of hatch/hothatch)

Laughs - wouldnt be surprised if Vauxhall give her a free corsa for all the press she has gotten them!!!

Its her choice - personally think she is being sensible getting a modest car rather than something powerful that she may struggle to drive (being her first car)

Some people here have a major chip on their shoulder. You make it sound like she trampled over some of the veterans and ****ed on the memorial while she was at it. At least she was actually at a remembrance event, were either of you? Honestly? (I wasn't)
