No, you can choose where the whole Steam folder goes, but all your Steam games have to be in that folder, they can't be put in different locations.

It was, not any more though.

Also some will prefer to buy from Steam than the less favoured EA download system.

Prices aren't that great really, you can get the retail version of Maximum Edition for £11-odd.
