Hello chaps

It's about time I upgraded the old graphics card - current system spec:

Q6600 @ 2.8
8800GT 512mb
4gb RAM
Vista 64

I am little out of touch so hoping you lot can help. What is the best card for around £120-150?

Ta!

One of either the HD4890 or HD5770 if buying new.

If buying second hand, then keep an eye on the MM for a 4870X2, they're getting down into the £160-£180 range.

I'd hang on a bit save a bit more and get a 5850.
Anything below that would probably end up being a stop gap card.

Why wait? Are prices expected to drop?

There is a shortage of 58** series at the moment so its driving the price up.The dual GPU is out soon(next weekish i think) so that may effect prices.Id wait and see.Unless you desperately need1.May be worth getting a 2nd hand card as a stop gap.

The 5770 is a nice card for the price. Really depends on what resolution you are using.

Ah yes should have mentioned that! I got a new monitor recently and it's the main reason I want to upgrade my graphics card. The resolution is 1920 x 1080. I'm having to play CODMW2 at 1024 x 768 though which is a bit of a shame.

I have one. It's a fantastic card, running temp is 40oC on Antec 900 and you can't hear the card at all. I put Modern Warfare on last night and it's great on my screen 1680x1050. (Can't say what it would be like gaming at 1920 X 1080) but i also ran The Dark Knight on my Samsung 1080P through the card and it looked fantastic. My advice is get one and save the money and then get another and go crossfire.

Think I'm gonna cave and get one of these, just depends whether I wait until my birthday / xmas or get one before hand :D

Decent performance, low temps, low noise. Ideal for my mATX rig :)

Yes studio max and also revit, is it a clear winner over the 260? I have no clue about current day cards!

It should be perfectly fine in Max, you should be able to use DX11 in max too.

It's just not worth buying a GTX260, any GT200 cards aren't worth buying due to them being old tech. (same goes for 4800s too really).
