Gigabyte GTX 275 Super Overclocked - Will OCUK get stock?

there might be some stock left over, or you would be left with no option but used.
I m not going to suggest other, as you made it clear you want a Nvidia card I don't care for what reason, and have your heart set on a GTX275.

or GTX285 which ever you can get in your budget

this was aimed at Cyber-mav btw

as for OP, well the card is EOL(well mostly some obviously still make them) dealt they would now

im not paying 220 odd quid for a gtx275 regardless of how much memory it has on it. will get a gtx285 for that price and oc it, but i dont get the large vram then which makes it less appealing to upgrade.

the plan was to replace the gtx260 in my media pc with the 275, then replace the 8800gt in the system in my sig with the gtx260 and slap the 8800gt from the system in my sig into the media pc to be the physx card running alongside the gtx275.

but the high price of the gtx275 in this thread is now derailing my plans. so next best option seems to be to wait for fermi now till next year. :(

If you think they're bad, the GTX285s are ridiculous.

The cheapest you can buy right now is £280. :eek:

The Cheapest available (well only available) 295 is £415. :rolleyes:
 
I got my GTX275 when they dropped in price 4 or 5 months ago, and it was just over £130. Was looking at maybe going SLI but no chance now prices have shot back up, I was hoping hey may of dropped more but no chance lol
 
5850 would indeed be the ideal card but since it doesnt support CUDA its not ideal for everyone. that and the fact that they seem to be dead or dying very rapidly makes them even less desirable. and thats without going into the driver issue threads popping up as of late with these new cards.

seen a few gtx285s goin around the 225 quid mark now so may just invest in one of those insted. shame really would have been ideal for me to have a card with more than 1gb vram for better gta4 gameplay.

which brings up another question, iv not seen gta4 play on the ps3, does it run on the ps3 as it would on the pc with all settings set to max on the pc? or is the ps3 running a scaled down version?

What's so special about CUDA? As I said earlier Direct Compute/OpenCL > CUDA/Stream.

CUDA and Stream are going to be very obsolete very soon, it's pointless subscribing to it.

It looks miles better on the PC. I'm thinking of going sLi so I can improve on GTA4 performance also :D
 
Being loyal to 1 brand is just stupid you have to get what's best at the time, i have had Nvidia when they had the best out and now i have a 5850, no fanboy here i was lucky to get this when they came in at £198, its the best i could get for my money at the time.

a lot of the issues with the 58**'s are not the cards if you ask me, there are a few that have changed there motherboards and there problems go away, i for one have had this for 5 weeks and no grief in the slightest, like drivers no issues with ATI at all my cards fine i have even flashed it with a 5870 bios and its running sweet, but in a years time if Nvidia have the best card for the money i will go for that.

How patronising. I'm well aware that CUDA isn't all about gaming. I think you are the one who isn't in the know, OpenCL/Direct Compute aren't all about gaming either.

It's all about transferring work load to the GPU.

I don't need to give you any links on this, it's completely obvious that's what's going to happen.

Open standard will always trump a proprietary standard that does the same thing.

I didn't realise this was so hard to understand?

For your information, OpenCL and Direct Compute have nothing to do with ATi, so you don't have to worry there.

The point is that it's better for EVERYONE if nVidia or ATi don't control stream shader computational software.

It's like nVidia or ATi gaining control of DX, you don't want that to ever happen as it'll result in some sort of divide, then the other side will make their own competing product to "rival" DX that doesn't work on the other hardware.

CUDA isn't going anywhere btw - sure its application and relevance in the gaming context is probably going to be overshadowed by directcompute - but neither openCL, directcompute or ATI stream are even close to the level required for the markets CUDA is active in...

You need to be very blinkered to bad mouth CUDA ad lib.
