Fact is, there's no proof anywhere that an unmodified console has been banned.

All we have to go on is the OP's word that his console was untouched, and he didn't violate the terms of service.

Indeed we do, although I'm not sure what that got to do with my post? The fuss is about an unmodified console being banned, whether that turns out to be the case we will see.

Apparently when you play live with a headset MS send signals up the headset into your brain which enables them to read your memories and see if you have modded your console.

The only way to avoid detection is to wear a foil hat when playing.

I highlighted your post because you called Abooie out about it being a load of fuss about nothing. In my opinion, Abooie is right. It is a load of fuss about nothing.

Microsoft ban consoles that violate terms of service and are used for piracy. Big whoop, good on them for doing something about it.

Some people start claiming that their "unmodified" consoles have been banned and want some form of sympathy. Until someone can irrefutably prove that their console isn't modified, I can't see any substance to their claim, and it's really no big deal as far I'm concerned.

Not trying to bait, but when we buy and in doing so fund future game development it'd be nice to know we were doing so without subsidising free gaming for pirates.

That won't happen. While I am not commenting either way, a number of long standing members have made it perfectly clear they have flashed consoles and play games early. Their posts have never been moderated in any way.

At a guess, I'd say the possibility of it working without having to connect to live..

your 360 is it connected to live?

if it is then you have the ban list hidden away on a file on the hdd allready

Those adding to the thread by stating they've got a banned console and know why so are just going to buy a new one are just as to blame. Curious that you aren't blaming them also.

Given we've got at least a 2 week wait to find out what happens to the OP's machine, it was inevitable this thread would drift a little. May as well close it until ChrisLandin actually has anything to report.

i also find it annoying how some people think they are better than others because they dont pirate any software, doesnt make me a pirate tho and the ones who mentioned having flashed consoles banned were not trying to put others down

i agree with you that this topic would be better closed tho as it will drift like you said

I know i'm just as guilty, but some of the replies that are nothing beside good ridence are quite obviously just baiting.

I also imagine a good percentage of them have illegally downloaded music at some stage as an example

I myself do genuinely find it an interesting subject matter and was only sharing my experiences as to provide insight to others rather than gloat that I had done it. I also wonder if the same response would have been given to the people in the previous generation that modded their consoles to run as media centres.

Ultimately it probs is best if the thread is closed until Chris returns. Also OT but I think I know Chris from when he worked at Safeway if it is the same chap.
